June 2015 Car Rental

I hope you are all checking your rates from time to time. I had a full size booked at both E-Z and Alamo for June 15-24 for about $240. Well, I just checked Alamo and got a mid size SUV for those dates for $245. The next cheapest option was the minivan at $275 and then economy cars came in at $286.

Thanks for the heads up on the price drop at Alamo. I just rebooked for 6/17-27 for $373. My old rate was $535. I used a $25 coupon from Alamo AD2823JAJ and insider member.

I checked last night for 10 days in early June. Alamo was down to $201 from $280 full size taxes and everything. Hoping it goes down more since its only February!

Alamo prices were down today for the end of June into July. I saved 40.00. You may want to check your dates if you booked with them :). I booked a standard as I know they only actually have full size I believe at MCO. I used Costco ID 7014627 and BJ's coupon-AF4469SDU.

When you are using the coupons and contract ID's does anyone ever check to make sure you are a member of a certain club or organization that you are using? I always go to the kiosk and then go pick my car and stop at the little both before exiting the garage. They have never asked me to show proof with the discounts I'm using. I was thinking about using the pass holder discount but I'm not a Disney pass holder. Knowing my luck they will check. Has anyone been asked to show proof of a discount??

I have never used a code that required ID but there are a bunch of posts where people explain they had to show their costco card or something like that. I wouldn't chance it unless it was a big savings over a different code.

Just booked a minivan for 10 days mid-June $311 with Enterprise. That was through Costco and I had to buy a membership - so out of pocket was $366. That was much cheaper than I could find anywhere else. I am amazed that anyone can get a minivan for 10 days under $300. I have never been able to.

How does Enterprise handle the sun passes? Charge per day or charge only when you use it? National (sister company) charges per use. Would have preferred National but they are way too high right now.

Rental Car Momma's codes and coupons are public. They have information on their website. Their coupons are printable. I am not even thinking about Vroom Vroom.

Since I have rebooked multiple times since my prior posts, I have a rental from June 1-11 for a 7 person minivan for $323 after taxes and fees with no code (except Insiders) and no coupon.

That is a question that doesn't seem to have an easy answer. There are some threads that discuss it, even a few recent ones and there have been mixed results. I passed on the code (at least for now) because it was only saving a few dollars vs using the Visa code Rental Car Momma ID listed above. My big concern would be if something happened, how would insurance work. My credit card covers me but not if I get rental insurance (included in the vroom vroom code), and my guess is that our insurance policy would be similar. I've read stories where people got the rate but they had to remove the insurance. I'd rather just play it safe with a code I know I can use.

I just went to check Alamo again and got a 7 passenger minivan for 10 days $343 with code AD2823JAJ from their site. My best rate so far was $373.

Alamo has dropped prices again. I just got my midsize SUV down to $225 for 9 days and the standard was down to $174. This was using Visa 30 off.

What was the Alamo code? Visa30off? 30 off? Visa 30 off? I typed in all of those and it said it was an invalid code. Thanks!

I scored a rate of $137 for 6-19 till 6-28 renting out of Fort Meyers and dropping off at mco. this was on a full size.
We are flying into ft Meyers for the weekend (Sanibel island) and then staying in a rental house in Orlando for a week.

Prices are down through Costco Travel today for both Alamo and Enterprise. I got June 26 - July 5 (9-days) for $177 mid-size with Enterprise. It was $10 more for Alamo and both include a second driver free.

I'm starting to freak out a little... looking at 6/7-6/17 I had alamo at $310 for a minivan.... stupidly, I waited to reserve, hoping it would come down... today it's $730.. hopefully it comes back down...

Update: I actually reserved alamo just now (just in case) with vroom vroom and Visa for 393 for the 10 days... still hopefull it comes down. :)

Anybody ever use Budget? I'm finding a decent price there but no one on these threads mentions them.

I e used Vudget in the past and been happy with them. It's been awhile so this may be incorrect, but I think that you still have go to the counter, even if you are in their loyalty program. I generally use Alamo and Thrifty as their programs allow you to skip the counter, obviously speeding things up but also allowing you to avoid the insurance sales pitch.

I haven't used them before but just made a reservation with them for this June. I've been going between a full size car and mid size SUV reservation at Alamo but just got a minivan at budget for $160 for 9 days. I think the car search is over.

Which codes did you use? I love skipping the counter, but we are going for 2 weeks and need a minivan, so if we could get a great deal, that would trump passing the counter! :)
