Best purse/daybag for solo?

I didn't want to hijack another thread under another forum, so I will ask this here. What bag is best for a solo traveller (i.e. not packing anything for anyone else, kids, etc)? Preferrably, I wouldn't carry anything into the parks but I know I will want to take a few items with me (camera, reservations, sunscreen, phone, etc). What is the best bag?

I currently wear this bag, but it won't fit sunscreen:

I can still use it with a small bottle of sunscreen and a clip on water bottle, but am thinking maybe a different purse will be better?

I recently did some shopping for my upcoming trip and purchased this bag to use at the parks

Kipling crossbody bag

It's a nice size, not too big not too small, and VERY roomy! It should fit all the items you listed just fine. I also like all the different zippered compartments that allow me to organize my belongings and have easy access to certain things.

Unless you're carrying a lot, I found one of those string sport bags to be the easiest to carry a couple of small items. They're also easy to stuff into a seat pocket during rides. Of course, if you carry a lot of stuff in they aren't ideal.

My Vera Bradley hipsters work great in the park. They're small and you can cram a lot in there without making it heavy. I only bring travel sized sunscreens in my park bag and have a larger bottle in the room, which helps. You can slide a water bottle down inside too.

I am old - so use a fanny pack - mind is leather

but since I hate the lines for security - find something with pockets and put stuff in there.

I second this! I always use a string bag (I've also heard it called a "cinch sack"). It fits a water bottle, camera, phone, wallet, sunscreen, a light sweatshirt, chapstick and a snack. It weighs practically nothing when empty, fits easily in all ride pockets and can fit a lot if you need it too. I spent a little more and got one with a zippered pocket on the front, which helps with organization.

I love the Vera Bradley hipsters for the parks also. And even more so with all the Disney patterns they have now. I don't ever have to carry anything for anyone else. It's perfect for wallet, phone, sunscreen, a snack, any meds you might need, etc. I can also put a water bottle in it and sunglasses in it while on a ride, too. Even with several things in it, it's never heavy.

I have one of these purses. Doesn't it get hot in the park? Did your shoulder not hurt from carrying it all day? I am trying to figure out a good bag to bring as well. A lot of ladies have recommended this purse....

I never thought it made me any hotter than I already was. :) I get hot in the parks super easily. I also didn't think it was too heavy. The crossbody style I think makes it better for all day use. I use a crossbody all the time though so it may help that I am very used to it. Maybe it would help to carry it for a few weeks before if you don't carry one like that all the time.

I've been carrying my Vera Bradley Hipster since I got it for Christmas. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. Maybe it's because I have too much stuff in it! I guess I will try it in the parks and see. Thanks for the info!

Oh ok gotcha. My each I take the minimal far as wallet, use my phone as my camera, and just other necessity items only. But then I can add stuff to it if I need to. Like if I buy something small or need to put my sunglasses in it. No problem!

I brought a Disney backpack when I was down there by myself. Because I was staying in the parks all day, I pretty much had my life in there: camera, sunscreen, poncho. I'd even throw my purse in there from time to time .... Also was a great place to hold some of the souvenirs I got.

I use The Go Caddy. It's slim and compact yet has so many features. Water bottle holder with sleeve and many pockets. I love it!

I love Thirty-One for small travel purses. I brought the sling-back bag with me last year, and I also used it as our plane carryon, it held all our travel documents, wallets, my ipad mini (although it can fit a regular ipad if you maneuver it) my hubby's e-reader, my camera, portable phone chargers, and other essentials. A water bottle can fit the outside mesh pocket, and the front two pockets were perfect for our Magic bands while in the airport, and for our phone chargers and my facial compact while in the park. The best part about the bag is that it sits like a backpack, but when you need in it, you just swing it around to your front (the bag goes sideways then) and the normally sideways zipper is right there on the top for easy access.

I use a crossbody purse in my daily life, but when I'm at WDW, I use a Vera Bradley Disney backpack (the smaller one, not the campus backpack). It's more comfortable for me to distribute weight across both shoulders, and the backpack is small enough where it's not heavy or cumbersome.

I just ordered this bag last week for our upcoming trips!! Glad to hear that it should work as great as I expect it would in the parks & for travelling. :thumbsup2

Awesome!! The bag is thinner (especially when there's not a lot in it), so when you get on a lot of rides, you can just swing the bag to your lap/side, and it fits inside the ride car without having to take it off.
I got the bag in the Sea Plaid pattern, then like a month later they came out with that grey striped pattern I posted. I so wish they had a bag exchange pattern, I love the grey so much more! I also love the matching wallet.

I like using a drawstring bag with a front pocket. I like that it stays pretty slim when you dont have too much stuff in it, but it can expanded a lot. I was able to fit one of those popcorn buckets in there. Also when taking pictures the straps aren't so noticeable. Of course you can just take your bag off when taking pictures, but i'd rather just have my stuff with me.
