"The Grey Stuff"

This is probably going to sound so silly, but I've seen so many different pictures of The Grey Stuff at BOG. In some of the pictures, "The Grey Stuff" is written out on the plate. Is it still served this way and, if so, is it at lunch or dinner?

Thanks for indulging my silly question! :worship:

LUNCH is a cupcake -
The Master's Cupcake
Chocolate Sponge Cake topped with Lumiere’s special “Grey Stuff”

DINNER is -
The "Grey Stuff"
Chocolate Shell, Cookie Crème topped with Lumiere’s special “Grey Stuff”

You are talking about Dinner.

This is the lunch Master's Cupcake -

Do you mean the actual plate that say "Grey Stuff" on it? I received the little blob of grey stuff on that plate in November (it was my birthday celebration). Not sure if the cookie shell grey stuff dessert comes on that plate or not, we didn't order it.

They used to only offer the Grey Stuff (piped on a plate with the word below) for celebrations at dinner time (e.g., Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc.). However, I think they got a lot of requests for it and probably some complaints from guests that they didn't get any, that they've opted to have dessert offerings with it. So now, if you really want it, you can purchase a dessert at either meal time, that comes with the Grey Stuff. It sounds like they may still offer it to some guests for celebrations, but that's up to the discretion of the server (kind of like any Celebration acknowledgement).

Yes, some entitled guests went absolutely BONKERS toward the CMs when they learned the grey stuff was only presented on certain occasions/celebrations and at the discretion of the particular server. So now to please everybody the grey stuff can be purchased at lunch and dinner. Now doesn't everyone feel special?puckerup: Or does it mean that now no one really is?:sad2::rolleyes:

I do think that in the case of the Grey Stuff, part of the problem was that Disney did make a big deal about it when BOG opened. So naturally people wanted to try it. They should have either had it on the menu from the start or offered to everyone like they do the bread service. That would have solved a lot of the issues with some folks getting it and others not.

Ahhh, okay, I understand now. It was/is only presented like this for special occasions. I was literally set to make up my mind on lunch vs dinner based on that one detail. LOL Guess I will have to base the decision on more reasonable factors now. ;)

It was served on a crunchy brownie or on a cupcake at dinner.

However, the recipe is super easy for it to make on your own: just a big pudding mix, tub of cool whip, and some oreos all blended together!

Thanks for the life hack!

I've always described it as the chocolate cool whip they used to sell. It's really not anything unique or amazing.

others have already said this, but I just want to make sure OP gets it: the grey stuff is available at lunch and at dinner. at lunch it's the topping on a chocolate cupcake, and at dinner it's on a brownie-type thing (the long bar some have posted photos of). So it doesn't have to be the deciding factor between lunch and dinner :)

People say it is no big deal. That is true in that the taste is no big deal.
But it IS the grey stuff. So you gotta try it is you know and like the song.
I agree with figment_jii they should have had it on the menu from the beginning, especially since they made a big deal about it.

. . . That would have solved a lot of the issues with some folks getting it and others not.

1) But, that was one of the ideas of offering it selectively.
2) It makes people go to specific meals for specific menu items.
. . . example: getting Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake ONLY at lunch at Liberty Tavern

Our entitled society quickly put a stop to that! The grey stuff is no longer something special, imo. We'll pass...

That'd be dancing around the issues of a broken, self-entitled 'me too' society.

A LOT of people ate there on their birthdays, back when the Grey Stuff wasn't formally on the menu. Due to some wacky leap year thing, our September-born daughter's birthday happened to fall in April one year, so we got to enjoy the Grey Stuff, too ;)
