Has anyone ever done a water park in mid- December?

We are traveling this Christmas time to Disney World and I am wondering if anyone has ever done a water park during this time. My thoughts are that I should probably wait till last minute to decide to see what the weather is like. My experiences in Orlando in December is that the weather is basically a crapshoot. But the planner in me wants to start cementing our plans. I should just wait, shouldn't I? For those of you who have done it, what was it like? To cold in between attractions?

Sorry KapBoy77! Just realized I "liked" your hell experience! Sorry it was so bad. Probably need to rethink.

We went earlier December and had a great time. It was quite funny too, because the lifeguards all had winter coats on. I think the weather in December can really vary, so I would not rule it out until much closer to time.

I understand wanting to plan, but I don't think you could really know more than a day or so in advance. Even if there was unusually warm weather, it could change overnight.

I would wait till I was there and if the weather gods and the star aligned and everyone wanted to do it on what ever day you can. then I would buy them.

We went to BB on boxing day ( 26th Dec) in 2012. It was really quiet, probably because it was only about the second day after a cold snap had passed through!

Claire :)

If you want to plan, then research things to do at Blizzard Beach. Unless Disney were to make some major scheduling change in 2015, Typhoon Lagoon is always closed mid-October through about the first week of January.

For the compulsive planner...you could always do a Plan A and Plan B. This coming from a recovering compulsive planner.;)

We swam at Kidani in early January, it was in the like 55-60 degrees then. It wasn't that bad as long as you're in the water. Not sure we could've handled a water park though as you have to do a lot of out of the water walking around to get to things.

We don't do the water parks..but I'd wait and see what the weathers like.

Our winter here lasts about 2 weeks of coldness out of the year. So you could go in December and it could be 80 degrees out or it could be 40.

I would also allow a space of time you could go if the weather permits. We did the 2nd week of dec before. We stayed a few hours but it was a little cool. No lines though!

We swam plenty Christmas 2013 but it was 85 degrees the 22nd-25th. It really just depends on the weather. The highs can be anywhere from 55 to 85.

i love the water parks those times of year.. you get the park pretty much to yourself... of course i only go on warm days

We swam Christmas of 2013 also the water is heated, a little. I did most of the water slides at BB with the kids. It honestly depends on the forecast while you are there.

Every time we went we have gone in December, so have done water parks several times in mid-DEc. We are from the UK, so the December Florida weather is mostly the same as early summer weather for us, but if you are from somewhere warm, you might not find it too good.

Again, as suggested be flexible, hopefully you have some rest days built in to the plan, and if the weather is great, then go to the parks (even if only a half day instead of shopping/resting.

I would wait and see what the weather is like. We were at WDW Dec.6-10th, '14 and first day of arrival was HOT! Sunny and 80! :thumbsup2:cheer2:
Rest of week was basically high 60's, maybe broke 70. Last day was DELIGHTFUL, BRIGHT, VERY SUNNY about 69...Took advantage of our last day and hung by the gorgeous Grand pool and enjoyed the hot tub! Hope that you ENJOY!:Pinkbounc

Not Dec but have done January. We normally wait to add the we options till we get there
everyone idea of cold can be a little different when you come from north east wisconsin in January starting the day at 40 Deg is very warm and dictates that we must wear shorts
