Purchasing tickets at ticketbooth

i read somewhere that if you purchase hopper tickets at Disneyland gate, the early morning entry does not apply. Is this correct? If so, can I purchase a ticket from another hotel, if my hotel does not sell tickets? Wil the early morning option apply to that option? I would rather not purchase my hopper in advance in case my trip is cancelled. But I want to take advantage of the day with early morning entry. Advise please.

I don't know what the terms are if you buy your ticket at your hotel, you could call and ask them. However if you buy your tickets now online and do not make it this year, you can apply the value paid towards your hoppers next time. The down side is you would have to do it at the ticket booth and would lose out on the early entry. One option you haven't mentioned but IMO is possibly the best option of buying an Eticket the day before you leave. Just print it out at home and head to the turnstiles.

Thank you for the info. I didn't know you could print out your ticket from the DL website. That's what I will do.

It's technically a voucher that you would print at home. They would scan the barcodes at the turnstiles and then trade them for the real tickets that you would use for reentry.

If you buy your tickets right at a Disneyland ticket windows they only give you the actual tickets for admission to the park unless it's the Southern California CityPASS. Even if you buy CityPASS at Disneyland, you're eligible for one Magic Morning.

Here are the Magic Morning terms:

  • Valid theme park tickets must be purchased in advance of Resort arrival. 2015 Southern California CityPASS may be purchased in advance or at the Main Entrance Ticket Booth.

I have never heard this.

As far as I know, if you're staying onsite, you get the early hour with your stay (and whatever sort of ticket you have). If you aren't staying onsite, you have to get a certain number of days to get the early hour.

I never heard of it either, but since they've had "Magic Morning" I've only bought in advance and it was printed on the actual admission tickets. I knew it was one "Magic Morning" with at least a 3-day ticket. I looked it up, and the terms do say that it's only for advanced purchase unless it's part of CityPASS. The Magic Morning is only at Disneyland Park and only on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday. The onsite early hours are supposed to be different, although I believe one is eligible for early admission every day of the stay. I think it's Extra Magic Hour or something like that.

OK - I looked it up, and it's the same three days for Disneyland Park and the rest of the week for California Adventure. I thought it was different before. However, there's only one chance to use a "Magic Morning", but the onsite hotel privilege is for every day of the hotel stay including the checkout day.

My friend purchased a 5-day park hopper ticket at the ticket booth at DLR in November and didn't realize that she wasn't eligible for Magic Morning either. The ticket came up as invalid when she tried to use it during the trip.

As others have said, the Disneyland website says that the tickets must be purchased "in advance." So regardless of which tickets you purchase, if you wait until you get to DLR to purchase the tickets, you won't get a MM.

CityPASS is the only exception. You could buy it at the DL main entrance and get one Magic Morning.

The other places that have the Southern California CityPASS have a bonus (one extra day) if you buy it online and use it there first. That's at SeaWorld or Universal. I'm not sure about how that changes in June when they switch from Universal to Legoland.

Oops...bad wording. Thanks for catching that. I meant to say that it didn't matter which length of ticket your purchased (i.e., it doesn't matter if you bought a 3-, 4-, or 5-day ticket at the booth). None would qualify for the MM.

March of 2014 we paid for our 4Day Hoppers at the ticket booth when we arrived and we got MM to DL one day.
Is this a new rule?
How long has this been the rule?

The pass is changing to include LEGOLAND? That's cool. Where did you hear that? I wouldn't be surprised if it still included an extra day if used there first. They have promotions with their tickets like buy one day and get 5-consecutive days of entry. We haven't been yet, but I look forward to taking my kids.

Yeah, CityPASS has a rep who checks/posts on DIS, and the rep mentioned it here. It's starting June 3, 2015. I think right now if you get the pass, Legoland can be an add-on, but starting June 3 it replaces Universal.

Looks like the price is actually going down $10.
