Hey thar,

Name is Jeremy

I'm new to these threads. Not sure if I can add any perspective that hasn't been gone through 101 times already.

I'm from South Dakota and Disney always seemed out of reach, but this year I was able to plan a trip back in March for myself, my parents, and my sister with her two kids because my brother was getting married and he lives in Georgia.

I excitedly sat down and used a spreadsheet to plan out the entire trip. 6 people driving down. Three days at the Disney Parks. The overall price for the trip was well within what I could have afforded on my own.

Now that we've done this trip I'm finding myself longing for a return visit. I'm crowd-averse, so I'm looking at some of the value times of the year to visit, even if its just me, myself and I going. I notice the cheapest time of year "Resort-Wise" falls on my birthday. yay.

Not sure what else I need to bring up in one of these introductory posts.

Cheerios ever'one...
Jeremy

welcome!
I'd say Early Fall and January are cheapest times to go. 2nd week in November has good prices, low crowds, good weather and christmas decorations. Can't beat that week!

I've been keeping my eye on tips like those. Thanks.

Welcome!! October, early to mid November (except for Jersey Days), and early December are great times to go crowd wise. We are going in mid September this year, which is supposed to be the least crowded time of the year.

We discovered we are disney people in 2012 when my 3 and 4 year old begged to go to disneyland! So we took them for a 3 day trip and really weren't sure we'd care for it. We got so obsessively hooked that upon arriving back home we booked a full 10 days in Disneyworld for 2014. We came home and after less than a week were back on the phone with our travel agent. We're going on our first disney cruise in october and then are headed straight back to disneyworld for a week. We can't get enough and can't stay away. So glad i found DIS boards.

Thats awesome.

Welcome!
And that seems to be how it usually happens. You save and go thinking it's probably gonna be a once in a lifetime trip, then next thing you know you are finding ways to go back again and again! As I know you've certainly already discovered, there's an overabundance of planning info here on the Dis! Happy planning!

Thank you, and Indeed. I love seeing everyone's perspective on making the most of their trips. I've even figured out some tips on my own...usually simple stuff, like "Take Your Time." Rushing through all the things in one day will not a happy trip make.

Exactly! We took our boys last Spring for a "once" trip. I hadn't been since 4th grade, my DH had only been to a water park 1 day as a teen. So we figured okay, we will take our 8 & 9 yo boys for the "inaugural" visit. HA, we loved it. Going back in Nov w/ my parents. Can't wait.

And welcome Ratsmith, this looks like an awesome community!

We went this past January for the value season. The parks did close earlier but we were okay with that since we are not night owls anyway. Enjoy your trip planning!

Thank you everyone! There's so much information and I am not use to forums that I get overloaded and have to come back for short sessions :)
