Just got done in the "chat " session with a MS and not friendly at all.
Not that the person was rude, just stuck to only the facts about online check -in and did not want to interact.
Never happened before. I know it's 10am but wow.
I hope his day goes better for him. Sending Pixie Dust his way

I've had one like that where they just copy and pasted something on the website and didn't say anything else. I guess I'm spoiled by my more magical encounters but I was hoping for a little more.

When the phones are taking 40 min to get answered, I couldn't understand why MS CM's were answering chat in just a couple of minutes. Then someone told me that chat is outsourced and that they aren't even in the DVC building.

Don't know if that's true but it also answers why they are limited to what they can do and why members are told to call MS.

Okay, that makes me nervous since I used the chat to put in my requests.

I wouldn't be nervous, I just know that they are limited on what they can do. If you want to check to make sure that your request was made, contact them again, that's what I do.

I use email for requests. That's worked like a charm and I get an email back in a few days so I know they actually did it. :)

I am not a fan of chat. I've tried it a few times for simple things like adding a request or addng a name to a reservation, person on the other end just said I had to call. IMO, all chat is good for is answering simple questions about WDW - things that the vast majority of DISboards posters already know. :teeth:

If they do their job appropriately and they're not rude, I don't see anything to complain about, esp with chat where it's difficult to portray such issues anyway. IMO it's inappropriate to engage in trivial chit chat for the online chat or MS and for places like the Front Desk, housekeeping, etc as well. They are working, let them do their job and don't cause them to put their job at risk. I've seen wait staff at restaurant's reprimanded and even fired for spending extra time chatting because they weren't doing their overall job.

I made a room request via chat a couple months ago and the person was able to make it. And I know they were/did because when I checked in at VGC the CM said "I see that you made a room request. ..".

I got the room request.

Could be that there are different chat agents, some have certain access to info and others that don't.

If the chat line is "outsourced" maybe that CM is from a totally different country and don't "chat" like we do? It could be a culteral thing.

I used Member Services Chat today. I had no problem with the person I 'chatted' with. As for a special request be added to my reservation and he confirmed that he was able to add the request. So that worked for me. I liked not having to wait forever on hold.

The only interaction I want is the information. I don't feel a bond with words that are typed by a companies customer service agent. I personally don't care for a "wordy chat" I don't want to have a response of
"Thank You for contacting us today, my name is Bob, and I am here to answer and solve you issue......and so on and so on..." When it takes them 3 or 4 or more posts to answer my question that was posted at the beginning I find that bothersome. Whatever the purpose of the chat is give me the answer and let me move on with the rest of my day. the "chat" is not a chat, and not with all company chats, but some are computer generated answers without a human. Some start automated and switch over. Also the person(?) that is chatting with you is busy with multiple chats and needs to answer and move on to help the next guest.

As Dean states I don't really need anything more out of the chat than addressing my requests and moving on. I have Disboards if I want more in depth chatting! :)
