Spring Disney Files Magazine states, "a sweeping refurbishment project is scheduled to begin in late March... Through late June." At BCV of course. We will be at BCV in late October in a 2BR and have reserved a studio for a few days for family during our trip. They are a family of 5. Will the occupancy change with the refurb of the studios since they are adding a bed? If not, we can have someone stay with us, we are only 6 in the 2BR so we have room. I am adding one of the kids to our reservation for now since I could only book 4 in the studio, but I was hoping they would be able to stay together in the Studio.

It will most likely be the same as BWV. They did not move the bed or add a nightstand. Poly has more square footage, the rooms at BWV and BCV did not get bigger.

When I emailed DVC, they wrote back & stated that BCV, should be done by 2nd week in August, and BWV should be about a week or 2 behind that.... This obviously can change of course, but is a good parameter to go by.
Does anyone else just not understand how they can increase the capacity of a studio from 4 people to 5 people, yet tell you that you can't have more than 4 people in a 1 BR? I mean, even if they don't supply the bedding for a fifth person in the 1 BR, it's bigger than a studio, so somehow it just doesn't make sense to me. They could at least say that it's OK to have a fifth person in a 1 BR if the fifth person is OK sleeping in a chair or on the floor.
I don't think it's picky to want two nightstands. That's one of the reasons we stopped staying in studios and prefer 1BRs. DH and I both need a place to put our glasses, watch, etc. at bedtime. I always thought it was pretty cheap of Disney not to provide a nightstand on both sides of the queen bed in all of the studios.I know that people think I am being picky about two nightstands. But DH and I both wear glasses and like to have them and a glass of water by the bed. Makes it tough for the person with no nightstand.
I always figured the reason the AKV Value studios have two sinks is because the AKL rooms had them. When they converted the AKL rooms to AKV studios, the studios inherited the two sinks that were already there. It would have been more work to re-do the plumbing to have one sink in the center of the vanity. I've never stayed in a Kidani studio. I wonder if they put two sinks in the vanities there or just one?If there was any doubt at the beginning, the vanity seals the deal-BCV studios only have a single sink. This is the one thing we don't like about BCV studios (not really dislike, though)-especially since even the value studios at AKV-you know, the studios that DVC won't call "deluxe"-have double sinks in the vanity.
@DebbieB Are you 100% positive about the 5th person. When I saw this I thought about bringing my niece by the CM on online chat said 4 is the max. Thanks! They do allow 5 in a 1 bedroom, except AKV value 1 bedrooms.
There's a notice in the DVC reservation system:
- Sleeps 4 – 5th guest can be accommodated, but please note that NO ADDITIONAL BEDDING, LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED.
If you book for cash with CRO/DRC, the max is 4 plus an infant < than 3 years old.@DebbieB Are you 100% positive about the 5th person. When I saw this I thought about bringing my niece by the CM on online chat said 4 is the max. Thanks!

You can definitely do this booking online.@CarolMN & @DebbieB yes, I am a DVC member with and existing one bedroom available for just me, my husband and 2 sons(ages 3 & 6)I was thinking of bringing my niece(14). When I did online chat with MS he said that I couldn't add her. I completely agree with you because I absolutely remember seeing the 5th person add on, I just couldn't find it again. I will try calling today MS today. Thanks for your help!!!
Regarding the nightstands in studios, I don't think there is room. Definitely not at BLT. Here's BWV, it would be a tight squeeze.
I've seen in pictures of rooms at both the Yacht and Beach Club which have a very useful little corner shelf. http://allears.net/acc/bc/IMG_0022.JPG I think is a great solution to the problem and have wondered why none of the other onsite hotel or villa rooms have done the same. I'm not even sure if they have been kept with the current BC refurb.
We were in a BLT standard view studio in Jan, and it had 2 night stands. A very small on against the wall (might have been mounted on the wall) and a midsized one between the bed and couch.Regarding the nightstands in studios, I don't think there is room. VGF had room, but they didn't put the second one in.
Assuming you are a DVC member, go into the DVC reservation system and try to reserve a 1 bedroom, you will see the notice if it applies. As Carol said, it's only DVC reservations.
As to the question regarding why are studios now have bedding for 5 but 1 bedrooms (except AKV, BLT, OKW) only have bedding for 4, I heard it was because of the layout with the kitchen counter, there was not enough room to put the pulldown sleeper in.
