Nope. That seems to happen when you grab a "phantom" room. Someone else grabbed it just before you did, but the system didn't update in time.

I tried Old Key West and got the same thing. Filling out the guest information and poof...back to the home page.

Not necessarily. I have had this happened to me a couple of time. Keep trying. It seems like it is still being held for you even though you were taken back to the first page. I have waited the 20 minutes and kept trying and got the room back. Do not give up immediately if this happens to you right at 8. Wait it out and keep trying.

With all the money DVC collects from the owners, you would think that Disney would provide a product that works. Long phone hold times and a website that doesn't work, what's next?

:earsboy: Bill

Same thing happened to me this morning! My kids were excited for all of 30 seconds before I had to tell them we lost the room. Oh well, it is still a Great vacation when we stay at our home resort of AKV!

Should I call or does this happen so often that I am just wasting MS and my time? It is such a bummer. We were all excited like you said for about 15 secs

It's been happening since Poly rolled out online. I don't remember ever having this problem before. Makes me hesitant to trying to hold a room and cancel an existing reservation on another computer!

Yes, I agree. I like this trick, but while this keeps happening I will not try it either.

Online booking is going down next week for about 12 hours. Maybe, just maybe, they are fixing this problem.

Not just the DVC online system doing this. Had the same problem with the Disney dining online system the day BOG opened reservations for lunch. I would select my ADR time, and by the time I selected all of my guest's names for the reservation, I would be kicked out to start over. Watched as all of the ADR's slipped away :( You would think that Disney could create a system that works for their customers.

It's been going on for at least a few months before that. I tried to get a VGF reservation for October 2015 at 8am on the dot 11 months out and it happened to me. There is a thread on this very topic on here somewhere...

It is not a phantom room. I've been piecing together a couple reservations and have this happen perhaps 50% of the time.

It all began following an update - I was thinking in December but maybe it was earlier. I agree that Poly was well after this problem started. The best I have surmised is that if the system is slower there is a timeout that is set way way too low and it bumps you out. Or perhaps there's some other issue that causes the delay that is a good indicator that the bump is coming.

I agree with KAT re: some kind of timer in the code. I had a similar but different problem that caused me to get kicked out during booking at exactly 90 seconds. I tested it multiple times and it always happened 90 seconds in to the booking process. In my case disabling an ad blocker in my browser fixed the problem. But it left me wondering what the heck the code is doing 90 seconds into the booking process that conflicts with an ad blocker to the point that it kicked me back to the starting point.

I don't know anything about coding, but did find the ad blocker feature in my browser. :) I wonder if that feature blocks all pop ups? It seems to do that for me. Anyway, maybe the booking engine uses those somehow. Just a guess and I am OK if it turns out to be a stupid one. Coding is definitely no longer my area of expertise - I learned FORTRAN and later, COBOL and haven't used either since 1975. :teeth:

Agree it's been happening since at least December because it kept kicking me out when trying to make my Thanksgiving reservation.

Hm, interesting. I shall have to try disabling my ad blocker as well. This timing out is really irritating and just really sloppy of DVC's web developers to let this kind of problem persist.
As an aside, I was just lurking but then had to write this reply after Carol mentioned FORTRAN and COBOL hah! I'm not quite that age, but seeing those reminded me of how PASCAL was my first programming language.

They really seem to be struggling with IT. There was a time when they were leaders - remember the EPCOT World Showcase dining system way back when?

I had the same issue, once I disabled Adblock Plus the issue went away.
