rental car drop off near universal

HI, what is the best and closest place to drop a rental? can i do it and get a ride back to universal? or will i need a taxi? also, how much for a cab ride from universal to to wdw?

which car rental company?
there is one company onsite at the hotels.

and quite a few near UO

What about Alamo? Another thread mentioned a drop off at the Sheraton Four Points. Would that require a taxi ride back to Universal?

I drop off my rental car, through Alamo, every year at the Four Points.. I then take a cab from there to Universal.

Works like a charm!

Hertz is right there at the resorts.

National/Alamo is at the 4points, and you *can* walk (we did), or get a cheap cab.

Thanks for the info. When I looked at the map it looked like the Four Points is in walking distance, but you have to cross the interstate -- glad to know a cheap cab would work as well. The money we will save not keeping our rental minivan parked uselessly for three days will pay for a room upgrade.

You cross it on the overpass, with nice sidewalks and everything.

Thanks, that sounds great. Perhaps my best move is to drop off my family and luggage at RPR, then drive over to turn in the rental car and walk back to RPR while the family gets checked in. If I did that, how long could I expect to be gone returning the car and walking back?
