Photos of the Disney Magic

We spent a week in the Western Caribbean aboard the Magic in February for my first ever cruise. And we loved it. Being a photographer, I tend to take a lot of pictures of things that I find visually striking. And there are few things as beautiful as a Disney Cruise liner. So I've been told by a friend that I MUST share them. Enjoy them if you like. I don't assume people like the pictures I take, it's a purely selfish hobby (and business) for me :)

A couple things that I really wanted to capture was the "Monica Blue" of the hull (which looks black depending the light of the day) and the ducktail that was added in drydock.

And let me add.........looking at these pictures.......I just want to be back at Castaway Cay....right now. Feet in the sand, drink in the hand.

I hope you like these.

They're beautiful! Thank you for sharing, I can't wait to experience the Magic in 24 days!!!!!

Thanks. Have you done a Disney cruise before? I was blown away. We are already planning for another in a couple years.

And I loved that fact that the Magic is the original Disney Cruise ship. It made the cruise a little extra special knowing that it was the first, even though it has been "re-imagineered" :) I like Disneyland for the same reason....it's the original.

Enjoy yourself. We had an awesome time.

This is our first Disney experience as well as our first cruise! I was adamant about the Magic, too, mainly for the reason you mentioned. I am beyond excited since I've dreamt about this for a long long time :)

Beautiful photographs! We will be sailing on her for the first time in November. Have you sailed on any of the newer ships before? If so, did that make the Magic seem overly small and/or outdated? I've only been on the Dream, but now wish I had sailed the Magic first.

Great pictures thanks for sharing , Post card perfect. Wish I could take good pictures my all end up blurry because I seem to shake every time, my kids laugh and no who took what picture.

You should post some in the Picture of the Day thread. Loving looking at those pictures and some people are so talented taking them.

I haven't sailed on any other ships yet. But one of the people we were travelling with have sailed on all of the Disney ships and they had mixed things to say. They LOVED the size of the Magic and the relatively small number of people on the ship compared to the biggest ships. They said the pools aren't any bigger on the big ships, but there are up to 1300 more people on board. So swimming is difficult, and getting chairs by the pools are difficult, and the lineups at bars, Cabana's, etc are much too long for their liking. They liked the newness of the newer, bigger ships. So they were torn. We asked them the same question, because we plan to do another cruise. And they couldn't give us a solid answer. The bottom line was that the big ships were awesome in size and decor and "freshness", the smaller ship was "just right" for size and amount of people.......in the end, It's a Disney cruise, it's going to be awesome :)

Where is the Picture of the Day thread? For some reason I can't find it, even when doing a search? *feelingdumb*

Found one more. I like the pirate ship in the foreground. This was in Grand Cayman.

I can't stop looking at your photographs and wishing my vacation would hurry up and get here. You truly have a talent! Were you able to enjoy the After Hours bar/lounge areas at all?

Oh yes. We had a 4 yr old and 8 yr old with us, but we traveled with 4 other families with kids older than ours and they loved to babysit (we planned that well didn't we!!!). 3 or 4 nights ended in O'Gills pub trying to understand the game of cricket (which seemed to be on the TV's non-stop), but all the booze in the world didn't help us understand it. We loved the late evening buffet in O'Gills (wings, deep fried cheeze fingers, sandwiches, salads, etc). It's a great place to hang out. We did Key's once (I strongly suggest doing the Martini tasting on whatever day they do it, put the kids in Oceaneers, and go get a little pickled). We were in Fathoms for a game show and for bingo, but didn't spend much time there later at night. That was my O'Gill's time with a couple of the other dads :)

Were the adult areas lively or more deserted in the evenings? And thanks for noting the late night snacks in O'Gills, I almost forgot they are offered!

Keys is very laid back, being a piano bar.
O'Gills is a good, chilled out pub vibe. Most evenings they had an acoustic guitar player playing and singing for an hour or so. Otherwise it was just a bunch of cruisers enjoying a pint and some wings (without the kiddies).
Fathoms is more of a nightclub and it seemed more upbeat. We didn't do much there late at night. A couple nights it seemed to be totally empty. Other nights there were people up dancing, smoke machines going, etc. 80's night seemed popular.

HEre are a few from activities on the boat and stuff like that.
