Trader Sam's at lunch time?

We were thinking of hitting Tangora Terrace for a quick bite to eat Wendnesday of our trip but we looked at the menu for Trader Sam's and see it serves some of the same food and we would much rather go there. We've wanted to try it for awhile but the crowds have always scared us off (we're a party of 5) & I'm thinking going during lunch is a great solution. Has anyone been during the afternoon?

It probably depends on when you're going (time and date). My family stopped by for a late lunch on the Saturday after the 24-hour day last year and it was already packed, so we ate at Tangora Terrace instead.

I have gone for lunch at Trader Sam's about five times - always during our summer visits. I like going for lunch because I have never had trouble getting a table for four. The place is tiny, and if I recall correctly they really don't have a five top table. They might be able to just add a chair at the end of one of the four tops or you would need to take over a couple of the tall rounds - or if you are all adults you can sit side by side at the bar.

Officially on the list it goes then! We'll definitely aim for 11:30 to give us the best shot at inside seating then (we do have 1 member of the party under 21).

If you are at Disneyland park, just get in the Monorail queue by 11am and you will be good to go.
The Long Fried Green Bean dish is AWESOME get the platter if your hungry
then the pork flatbread
maybe the hamburger if you want a burger

You'll need to get there before 11:30 if you want a spot when they open for lunch. The last 2 times I've had lunch there, there was already a line by 11:15, so get there early. They do not have tables for 5, but you can eat outside on the patio. I think there are only 4 tables for 4 (no room to squeeze in and extra chair), a couple of tables for 2 and bar seating, and I don't think you can sit at the bar if you're under 21. The Hawaiian burger is awesome!! (y)

I like TS's a lot but keep in mind that the appetizers are pretty small and wont fill up the avg person. I prefer to order something next door and then get a cocktail at TS

And that's probably the biggest disappointment people express about it. They expect that they're sitting down for a meal, when it's really appetizers and not meal sized portions.

We went during July around 2pm and got a table inside, very uncrowded. We tried to go back in the evening on another day and we could not find a spot inside or out. So we went to Tangaroa Terrace and ate outside and loved that too. Nice warm evening with the tikki torches. One of our favorite memories!

Eating out side of TT is quite an experience with the view of the beautiful grounds, fiery Tiki torches and elaborate pools. That's the only time that I really wish we were staying at one of the DLR hotels.

We always stay at the DLH, we usually go to TT for a late lunch. I do not recall ever having a problem with seating but, we always go after the lunch rush. Seating outside is the best. After a relaxing lunch, we hit the hot-tubs and the pool for a while. It is part of the fun, of staying at the DLH. We enjoy all of the DLH amenities :rockband:

Trader Sam's is our go to lunch place. We get there by 11:20 for the 11:30 and have never had a problem getting a table. We always have our kids with us. For us we order multiple items and it fills us up nicely for lunch. Enjoy!!

I'm a local and AP holder and typically go to Trader Sam's for a drink and snack around noon. Crowds are not bad but please note that the food is appetizer size.
