Hello everyone! I live in Richmond, VA. I've been to Walt Disney Word 10 times since 2001. However, this September I will be going with my 2 year old daughter for the first time. I have never been with a child before, so this should be interesting. My husband went on our honeymoon 3 years ago and I found out I was pregnant on our last trip 2 1/2 years ago, so this place holds special memories for me! :) Just wanted to pop in and say HELLO!!

Hello, welcome :) I'm glad you're joining, and it's so sweet to hear how many memories you have in the World. I am sure you will have fun with your daughter there and just make tons of new memories!!
I will be here reading on if you decide to do a PTR or TR!!

You sound like my wife and I. We're from the Richmond area and are taking our 2 year old this month. Last time we went was in 2011 for our honeymoon.

I probably will do a trip report. I'm so excited!!

Awesome! We live in West End. We got the new cheap Southwest flights out of RIC. Almost went with JetBlue, but SW was a little cheaper. :) I hope you guys have a blast!!

We're on the North side (up by Kings Dominion). We snagged the SW flights too. Great deal. 18 days... Went by so slow, but fast too! We've gotten to the point where we've started second guessing everything we've planned. LOL

LOL! I do that all the time. I start planning a year out, then about 2 weeks out I start second guessing. But I try to look at crowd calendars for updates and adjust if I need to throughout the year. :)

Another from RVA here! We moved to the area from Seattle in September. We are also in the West End (Short Pump). We have been lots of times to both WDW and DL with little kids so please let me know if you have any questions. September is our favorite time to go. It is usually hot! but with low crowds. We are headed back in June with our youngest kiddos (3 and 6). We are driving for the first time. We flew there in February for our son's 21st birthday and it was great to have such a short flight compared to our previous flights from Seattle.

Disney is a whole new animal with little ones and, in my opinion, just a little bit more magical. :)

Awesome! A belated welcome to RVA :) I usually go in October or November, but I thought I'd try mid September this trip. My DH and I can't help but tear up when we imagine our DD's face when she meets Elsa and Anna! I hope she doesn't freak too much with Mickey. She did great with the Easter Bunny this year so I have hope with that.

My main conundrum is whether to rent or bring our own stroller. We don't like the idea of someone walking off with our stroller. Still kind of weighing options on that.

We have always brought our own stroller until this upcoming trip. We have never had any issues with our stroller being taken or with anything being taken from our stroller. That said, we don't leave anything valuable in our strollers when we park them. We took our own stroller previously because we needed it for traveling through airports anyway and we had a boogie board on the back of it for our oldest to ride on. I suppose strollers have been taken at Disney World but I doubt it is a frequent occurance. We are renting a double stroller this time because our boogie board broke on our way home from our last trip and it was getting difficult to push with the weight distribution so heavy on the back. This way both our kids can sit and we can move along at a pace faster than that of a 6 year old. :) If you decide to rent a stroller, I would suggest using Kingdom Strollers or Orlando Stroller Rentals. Both have good reputations. The strollers you can rent in the park are hard plastic and are less comfortable.

I think we've decided to buy an umbrella type stroller that has storage on the bottom. That way, we don't have to carry our bags all day, just when we go on attractions. It's lighter and easier to fold up than our normal stroller. Plus, the idea of carrying her to the bus stops after a long day in the park factored into the decision ;)
