Mugs and split stay question

Hi HO, hi ho, it's off to work we go

we will be staying 4 nights POR followed by 6 nights at WL. If we purchase mugs at POR, will they be good to use at WL or will the chip no longer working? Also, are the mugs the same at both resorts? I remember WL used to have two different size mugs.

The mug will work, as long as it gets programmed for length of stay.

Yes, be sure to buy length of stay option. All mugs are the same design now, and same size. Only difference is lid & handle colour choice. They are the same colours at all the resorts, but sometimes a resort may run out of one colour.

We will be getting room only as we have 9 day park hoppers from a previous package. Does that mean we can't use the mugs at our second resort?

You will be able to use them, length of stay is a month if not a few days more worth of days the cup is available to be used. If you are there for 10 days or 2 days, legnth of stay cups are still 30+ days.

I'm pretty sure length of stay is only 14 days. After that you can purchase additional days.

I'm confused. Everyone keeps saying purchase length of stay. Length of stay what, park tickets, mug? I thought the mugs were just a set price to purchase. Aren't all mugs length of stay? Is it length of stay at a set resort or any resort? We won't be on a package so my mug won't be tied to my MB, right? Sorry if I'm making this more complicated than it has to be, never bought a mug without a pkg. since they put the chips in them.

No worries, but you are making it more complicated than it has to be. The mugs are not tied to anything. The are not tied to tickets, not tied to a resort stay, not tied to your MDE account; nothing. You have 4 options when purchasing a mug:

1 Day - $8.99
2 Days - $11.99
3 Days - $14.99
Length of Stay - $17.99

If you purchase a mug with the Length of Stay option it defaults to being good for 14 days and is good at ANY WDW resort.

Thank you! That's amazing, I've never seen a sign that you can purchase less than a $17.99 mug. Now it makes perfect sense!

I have bought legnth of stay mugs a couple times this year, once at AKLV and at POR, it was a month or so both times. But it was like that last year too. We go to Disney monthly, and have taken advantage of this a few times. The literature on the rapid fill cups say 14 days for legnth of stay, I just haven't found this to be the case, somehow it's always more than that.

I guess I never noticed because we always stay one night at POP ( in case we get grounded by weather) and didn't start our packages until we switched to our pkg resort, so it never was an issue before. I wasn't doubting you at all.

It's s relatively new thing with mug pricing and gives people with short stays an option, and makes us with long stays pay more :-(

Up to 14 days of drinks plus a souvenir mug for $18 is a pretty good daily price.

Even 4 days for $18 is pretty good.

All I get is coffee in the mug and the price is good compared to two separate coffee purchases per day.

The mugs are an awesome deal. We stay nine nights times at least four fills per day. Do the math. It averages $10 a day times 9 days = $90 just for soda or coffee. The mug is $18. It's the last great deal Disney offers (except free dining of course and you get the mug included).

Wasn't saying it was not a good deal, just that price went up for length of stay when they put in tier system :drinking:
