Is anyone else disgusted about the state of Hollywood Studios?

Threads like this remind me why I love Disney. With four parks they have tried to find a way to appeal to everyone as it is clear everyone expects something different. We do a full day at each park and love them all because they all have a different appeal for us. Of course we go about once every three years so my opinion may change if we went more often.

I love HS! We do two days there now. TSM, RnR, TOT, Animation Academy, Star Tours, the street performers, Lights Motors Action, Beauty and the Beast, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, One Man's Dream, Indy Jones, Backlot tour, Great Movie Ride, Fantasmic...what exactly is there not to love?

At this point, DHS is my least favorite park with my second most favorite ride in it. Tower of Terror is probably my second most favorite Disney ride behind Splash Mountain. But, with the prices of things, I couldn't justify spending the 1 day ticket price at the park (or any of the parks except MK). If you compare DHS with USF, USF has spent the last 6-7 years reinventing the park 1 step at a time. They rethemed the Nicktoons ride to Despicable Me, and upped the queue theming. The rethemed Back to the Future to The Simpsons, and in a separate stage 2 changed the entire area around the ride to Springfield. They a brand new rides in Transformers and HRRR. And the is all without mentioning the big daddy of them all, Jaws being replaced by Diagon Alley, the London Waterfront, and Hogwarts Express. In the 25 years since Universal Studios Florida opened Every Attraction except E.T. has been reimagined. The BeetleJuice, and Horror Makeup, shows are different, Disaster had it's walking portion changed and in car video added to the subway cars.

With minor changes to the Movies, great movie ride is the same ride it was opening day (except several of the effects no longer work), Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is the same. Beauty and the Beast is the Same, Star Tours did get New Films, and Tower of Terror has been plussed with updated drop secquences and effects. But, DHS has remained pretty static since TSMM opened in 2008.

I have to admit, I will probably just skip that park altogether on my next visit and double up on Epcot or Magic Kingdom!,

In a word: Yes.

But it probably won't stop my family from a dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe, a trip on RnR, a viewing of BatB, and a night at Fantasmic! this year ;)

It's not that we don't love what DHS has, it's just it's hard to justify Disney wanting a $100 gate price for the park. Looking Just at numbers.

DHS
5 Rides
9 Live Action Shows
2 Walk through Attraction
1 Night Time Spectacular
1 Kids Playland

USF
13 1/2 Rides (Counting Hogwarts Express as 1/2)
8 Live action Shows (Counting all 3 Diagon Alley mini shows as 1)
2 Walk Through Attractions
1 Parade
1 Night Time Spectacular
2 Kids playlands

I will be the first one to admit, the big shows at DHS are bigger then the big shows at USF. But in almost every other area, USF is a bigger park. I love a lot of things about DHS, like I mentioned above, it's got one of my favorite attractions. But if it wasn't for park hopping for cheap ticket prices after buying 3 days, It would probably be a skip.

I agree with you here, Epcot, Ak and DHS are not worth $100 a day. One thing I've found with using FP+ is that it is causing me to spend way more time in MK than any of the other parks just cause I don't want to waste my time with poor FP+ choices.

I don't think Epcot is a half day park because of WS but there is certainly a lot to work on. They need another country, they need to put a killer restaurant where the Odyssey was. They need to use the old place where Body Wars was and open something STEM related there. They need to remove Captain EO and burn it. It is an easy place to add a cool 4D movie like Universal has.

Can you believe the people they allowed in DHS this weekend?

That's an amazing story, but I'm not sure how true it is. She met him at Biergarten and was able to convince him to park-hop to HS to ride RnR an hour later?

Still, if true, that's fantastic. I would demand he sing through the entire ride :)

Why won't they just close DHS and do a massive overhaul. We went to both AK and DHS in October, while AK was a mess with the walls. We did spend two days there. My fam loves animals, but DHS. Once you've seen a show, you've seen a show. Maybe because we are regular visitors, we were bored. We got there at 11am saw shows, used our FP+ then had to kill time waiting for Fantasmic.

Still my favorite non-MK park there.
It is dated for sure if you have been going to it the last 20+ years, but I still love it and look forward to going to it this summer with my boy (will be 3). Heck we even went over there (park hop) last October ... just to see the Frozen show and ride Star Tours and see Fantasmic as we walked out. He loved that short little bit. It was ALL new to him.

To me it is the ultimate "boys" park at Disney. Stunt shows? Pixar? Star Wars? Disney Junior? Muppets? ... perfect for a boy.

Plus I think that DHS looks the coolest at night (at least the Hollywood and Vine parts) with the all its neon ...

The loss of some of the sound stages and the backlot tour though definitely has made it lose a lot of its theming. But if they plan on changing it (which they obviously are with the closings) .. I am looking forward to the new and improved parts.

I love DHS but im firmly in the camp tbat it needs major TLC and look forward to the pending overhaul.

Epcot needs help too. It needs at LEAST one more country with a gatebuster attractio. The imagination pavilion needs an overhaul, innoventions needs an overhaul, the Wonders od Life needs to be rethemed and used, and the Odyssey restaurant needs to be rethemed and used.

DHS is definitely a half day park for us..never used to be. Now it's Toy Story Mania, Muppets, Rock n Roller Coaster, and maybe Tower of Terror and we are out :hippie:

Honestly, I think AK is more of a right now than disgrace than DHS. We felt like rats in a maze when we were there in December. I think it's great that they're doing so much to the park, but to let guests into it while so much construction is going on all over the place while charging them nearly $100/day for the pleasure is disgraceful. I think that at the very least they should have been allowing free park hopping to/from AK while all this construction was going on.

Ah but at least walls means they are doing something and the walls will be gone soon.. Plus AK actually has open attractions and shows :-) Whereas DHS closed several things and did nothing, no walls except for the hat.

I hope the

I agree with you completely, I was just joking because the Disney community has already regarded the expansions as fact that they have to come now! I have my fingers crossed for Cars Land to be coming our way.

I remember visiting DHS back when it was MGM and my grandma would talk about how "maybe she will get discovered" while we were there. I never quite new what that meant and now I realize she was hoping to make it on TV during our visit lol!

I have heard that Cars Land may be back on the drawing board. I'm pretty excited if that is the case.
