Second guessing myself...

Why was totally going to combine aulani with that cruise.
Kerri

About a third of the crew walked off the ship in a labor dispute right before our cruise. Food was awful, service was a joke. Friends have tried it since then, with similar results. Cruising Hawaii with the Mouse was much better.

Yikes!!
Looks like NCL has the lock in Hawaii though.

I refuse to fly Southwest as well. Can't stand the cattle call. Jet Blue has always been reasonably priced for me even when we flew during Easter Spring Break in 2014. I can pick my seats, the first bag is free for every ticketed passenger, TV to entertain the kids and also wifi on some flights.

Exactly! I love JetBlue. Are they perfect? No. But they've never stranded me in an airport for 6+ hours (much less twice), and when there is an issue the apology is instant. I don't need to check more than one bag anyway, so multiples aren't an argument. And yep! I can watch TV for free on JetBlue without getting my Surface out - and there's a better choice of channels as well. :) Plus T5 at JFK is AMAZING!

We had a three hour weather delay with JB last summer. The next morning all of us had a travel bank credit for a future flight.

I have a connection in JFK this summer on my way to Maine. Glad to know it's a nice terminal! JB was the most affordable option for us. 5500 points on the way to ME and $90 for the flight back to FL!

Yeah, they are awesome! Weather can happen - that is out of their control. I as fine with the delay Thursday as long as it was weather - then it turned into an elective mechanical thing (if it was crucial or safety-related, they would NOT have flown the plane from Akron with it and the pilot admitted that they were aware of it in Akron) and that's what sent it into "never again" territory.

T5 is one of if not the newest terminal at JFK. The food options for meals are yummy!! Plus there's a Ben & Jerry's, so you can't go wrong!!

I love Jet Blue too...haven't had too many issues with Southwest but US Airways (or Useless as we like to call it)...ugh! Latest example of them is that my DH was connecting, they knew that flight was behind, they barely made it to the gate and would've been onboard on time, except the pilot decided to leave over 10 MINUTES EARLY! He and his coworker had to rent a car and drive home in the middle of the night over 6 hours. They lied to his face and said he was late, as I was watching the whole thing on Flight Aware! LOL I'll be sticking to SW or Jet Blue :)

I avoid Delta out of old memories...something about getting off a plane to see the engine literally fall OFF the wing onto the tarmac just sticks in your memory LOL

I'm sorry; I didn't know something happened to you *twice* -- once is an oddity, but twice is something else.

I hope you didn't think I was being cheeky; I had hoped it was a Bermuda Triangle thing that was once in a lifetime. Me?...I would give anyone a second chance but not a third. I hope you'll enjoy your cruise.

It's ok. Yeah...it was two separate times. This trip ironically was partly covered with the voucher they gave us when it happened back in the fall (that was the elective equipment relocation). I'd had what are now minor issues with them before, but these last two took the cake. Especially the lack of any apology until well over 5 hours into being stuck in the worst possibly terminal (seriously, this thing should be shut down for capacity at peak travel times) at LaGuardia (not-so-affectionately known as "LaGhetto" by me and several of my friends). Why does it take that long for someone to say "We apologize"? So yeah, this was their second chance.

Thanks! I'm super excited about it now!! (Plus I think my sister will be on contract - unless she moves ships - so it'll be awesome to see her!!)

I was reding this thread, and saw how it changed to a discussion on airlines- we fly SWA or JB, and want to sure our JB story- flying home from Orlando, Sunday evening in summer. Got to airport early enough only to spend over an hour at security- then had to run for the gate. While running someone stopped us to say the flight was canceled. Last flight of the evening and super long lines to rebook. As much of a pain as it was (with 2 kids) JB was awesome. They gave us vouchers for dinner and breakfast, and paid for our stay at the Hyatt at the airport, and gave us a credit for another flight.. but we had to fly into an airport 2 hours away, they had a bus waiting to bring us back to our home airport. Got home about 18 hours after we were supposed to. No idea why the flight was canceled, they never said!

MCO security is notoriously horrid. On EVERY side. That is TSA and not the airlines.

OT but I dropped my DD off at LGA earlier today for her return to Nashville (she lives there) but they flew Delta...direct with no issues. Love Nashville!!! She was in town for her baby shower.

Glad you found a different cruise that you'll enjoy.

I booked with a TA and didn't get any incentives. :worried:

Always make sure you get the incentives! Even if it just means costcotravel.com for the Costco giftcard after your cruise. (though that varies with what cruiseline you're on...if booking Royal, you get OBC for instance) Unless you really do change things around a lot, in which case just forget the incentives and book direct. But don't book a TA unless you're a total newbie OR you're getting some good stuff. IMO.

So true.

We all have our lines in the sand about airlines, and I think we all know that everyone has different faves! I won't book JB for anything. Nothing as bad as Beth's situations, but several individual situations that showed us that the individual people don't listen, don't notice, don't care, and aren't going to listen, notice, or care. And when you're in the middle seat and YOUR TV doesn't work and they don't care about it, you're in for a long and boring flight. Cartoons on one side and violent movies on the other...joy oh joy.

We all have our "I'm mad as heck and I'm not going to take it anymore" moments with airlines/cruiselines/etc, if we travel enough.

Yep...except that they keep delaying it. Just flew them recently and the first bag was still free, and when I asked on FB they just said they were "still reviewing it".

Translation - "we're catching a lot of unexpected heat for this so we're treading lightly" LOL

Re MCO. Normally I agree with the security mess. However, our last trip (about 6 weeks ago) we were coming back to Buffalo and they picked us for "family expedited" (whatever that means). They literally asked us 2 questions, swabbed my hands with some kind of Band-Aid looking thing and voila, done. It took all of 3 minutes from the middle checkpoint to getting that on, to getting our stuff and then heading to the trains.

Back to the original topic (yeah, sorry - didn't mean to derail the thread *laugh*) glad you were able to find an alternative you were happy with :)

Yep, I'm booked on a flight in August and it's still first bag free.

Even if they start charging for it, that won't make me stop flying them. I'd rather pay more for baggage and have an airline I trust than have a free bag (which I almost never need anyway - maybe one flight a year) on an airline where I'm so stressed about how long they're going to strand me this time.

Glad you found a different cruise that you'll enjoy.

Oh I have mo doubt O would have enjoyed the Wonder cruise as well (in fact I may still book that one just on my own - the 7-night gave better benefits from the OBB). :)

I'd just been really excited about possibly new ports (to me) on the Fantasy until I saw the price for the cruise in February. Didn't occur to me to look at our Spring Break week in April until I realized how much later than "normal" Spring Break it is (thank you Passover for being late next year!). So when I can get 7 nights to two new places for not quite twice the price of 4 nights to all places I've been... I jumped. The fact that cabin 9000 was available is just a happy little bonus (I had that cabin last year on the Dream and fell in love with it!).

I would love to hear what you liked so much about cabin 9000?

And I hope you will have a great cruise on the Fantasy. I think besides it being longer and new ports, you are more likely to have nicer weather in April in the Caribbean than in February in the Bahamas and in Florida. I had two February trips to Orlando when it turned out to be uncomfortably cold, other trips were really nice and warm, but you never know.
