Aulani hotel rooms vs dvc rooms?

We are coming to Aulani 5/19/2015!! We are not DVC members and did not rent points so we are basically paying per night like a regular "hotel reservation". Are these type rooms located in a different area than the DVC rooms or are they all just mixed in? I hope this makes sense. We have booked a deluxe studio-standard view. Can anyone offer any info. Seems like all I can find is info in DVC rooms. thanks!!!

Hello! I believe they are mixed in. The room you have is a DVC room. The difference is it will be a little smaller, have a King & pull-out sofabed instead of 2 Queens or a King alone. You will also have a wet bar (little sink) and some bowls and plates etc, and a microwave (Aulani do tell me now you also get these in the hotel rooms too, recently added apparently!) If you can try request the room on a higher floor. All the standard views have some form of view of the car park or convention center. If you are up higher you basically look over these and see the nice mountain side.

We did a split stay last august that started with a hotel room with 2 queens purchased as a hotel stay and then half way through switched to a DVC studio rented with points. This was only because we could not rent for the whole time. Our 2 bedroom queen hotel room was in a totally different wing than the DVC studio. I was under the impression that there was a DVC section and a hotel section but I could be wrong. Also, our "hotel room" was not the 1 king studio so that might be the difference right there. What we found was the first room (2 queens) we were in felt bigger and more comfortable but it could be because we were upgraded to a partial ocean view and it was in the newest tower closest to the adults only pool. Dont get me wrong, the studio with the 1 king was great too but somehow it just felt smaller but our view was of a lava rock wall and gardens with a water feature. It was private and quiet but certainly not the same as the gorgeous partial ocean view-this is it and I still cannot believe how beautiful it was

The DVC studios are definitely scattered around in different wings as I have stayed in a few different spots on the opposite sides of the resort. With the studio, you will need to pay for an ocean view room to get the view above, unfortunately I have never really been upgraded in my DVC rooms. The first time I visited I had a hotel room, I was told I was being upgraded but was just on a higher level on the rear side of the resort with a small view of the ocean in the distance!

I recently stayed at Aulani in a hotel room (cash purchase through Expedia) - booked standard view. I received a complimentary upgrade to pool view upon arrival. The room had two queen beds, no wet bar (sink) or microwave (Room 232). However I requested a microwave upon arrival and housekeeping promptly delivered. My housekeeper also mentioned they have toasters as well, for use free of charge (I had purchased a small toaster oven from Target to use during my stay). I took plastic bowls and cutlery with me. The fridge was small but I managed to fit a week's worth of food into it. The room was very conveniently located and quiet - the balcony overlooked the lazy river. It was lovely sitting outside watching all the activity, but not being in amongst it. With the balcony door shut I didn't hear any outside noise at all.

To my surprise, the deal I received included breakfast - which I had read prior to arrival consisted of a pastry and drink. However, it turned out to be a meal at any time of the day, plus drink.
