Hi I know this is a long shot and falls into that category of how long is a pice of string but does anybody have any experience of upgrading at port ? We are very happy with our two verandah cabins but if the price wasn't silly was wondering if there was availability to upgrade to a one bed concierge if available ! Like I said more than thrilled with what we have and wouldn't want to up grade to a family concierge as feel the two rooms are better but if a one bed came up that possibly might be better with the concierge and lay out . Anyway any body have any experiences of this ? Would be great if your happy to share
Many thanks

I would say that book the room you want as upgrades are not always available.

Someone asked this question the other day and it was brought up that you can only upgrade one cabin and you would have to cancel the other cabin at port so not sure if you would incur cancellation charges on that or not.

There are several threads covering this:

Quite right. One room could be upgraded, but the other would need to be cancelled (with whatever penalty fees apply). Might not be worth it.

Not when we did it. We had one verandah and one ocean view, and were offered upgrade to a single concierge RS in exchange for the two we had. No cancellation fees. And it seemed really cheap, but we had paid for two cabins already.

I do not believe you would incur a cancellation. You would pay the upgrade from your verandah to 1 bedroom. The OV would stay vacant, unless someone else upgraded into it or the other part of your party remained in it.

We just upgraded at Port last Sunday on the 7 day western Magic from a 4a to a one bedroom Concierge. We booked the cruise on an FLR to begin with and then for what we paid to upgrade to the one bedroom.........we were extremely pleased.

If you don't mind us asking, how much did the upgrade cost?

Our price was 1500.00 for the one bedroom for three of us. Being we only paid around 3500 for our cruise to begin with and that the suites were for sale at around 16,000 a couple days before our cruise.................I am feeling pretty good with our total cruise price.

Did you have to get to the port early in the morning?? I read that you have to check in around 10am to have a chance for the upgrade.

While it's best to be at the port earlier (rather than later) in asking for upgrades, The terminal doesn't open until 10:30. Arriving at 10:00 you'll just be told to come back later.

If you are looking for concierge, it is best to be there as soon as the terminal opens for the best chance (depending on how many are open and how many people before you want one, etc). But if you are looking to go from an inside to oceanview or verandah, etc, you may still find them available later as other people have upgraded to the concierge rooms earlier and left some more of those vacant.

We upgraded from a 7A to a 4A on our Pacific Coast cruise. The 7A was one of the secret verandah rooms and another couple in our Dis meet group was able to snag the 7A that we had upgraded from a little while later :)

Congrats!!! What a great price for concierge.
