open space to throw frisbee?

We are camping at The Fort for the first time this summer. (yay!) We have lots of down time in our schedule, is there a large meadow or open area where we can run and throw around a frisbee? We'll be in loop 1500 or 2000. Thanks!

There is plenty of space by the pool. There is also other areas that are open fields to throw a frisbee. I also think that there is space in the "Settlement" area as well, but I think by the pool (central to most of FW) is probably your best bet.

If you land the 1500 loop you will have a great space for throwing the frisbee. When you exit 1500 you will be facing a canal, and just across the canal is a large open space between you and the pool. There is an area set up for volleyball but plenty of space left over for frisbee throwing. I have provided you a map. The area circled in red is directly across from the entrance of the 1500 loop. There is an area called Creekside Meadow close to the 2000 loop (circled in blue) that may be open. This is an area sometimes used for primitive camping and can very well be filled with tents or completely empty. Finally, if you are willing to ride the golfcart or your bikes, there is another area (circled in purple) along the entrance road that has lots of open space on both sides of the road to play.

There are other areas scattered around the Fort, such as around Pioneer Hall, down on the beach, etc. that are available as well. These are just the locations that I can think of close to your sites.

Wow, thanks for the map and all the info - I really appreciate it!

We just got home and stayed in loop 2000. There is an open area next to one of the comfort station. There is also a tether ball area there. There are some stumps, so I wouldn't advice any night time activity. Enjoy your trip.

If you land the 2000 loop, any place would do, middle of road, other people's campsites.

Poltergeist!

I know what you mean about "other people's campsites". My sister's site was right next to the walking path to the CS! And you would not believe how many people thought their site was a short cut!. They had to set up barricades. We were across the streets, so we did not have that problem. Loved our site, very large with lots of "extra space" behind us. Will stay in that loop for our next two trips, but will definitely asked to be moved if we get a site next to the sidewalk.

Hey Snowmedic, wasn't that your site last year!?

You said almost the exact same thing.

Where you at the beginning or end of the loop, or down at the 2016 area? There is a trail that cuts between 2 sites at the beginning / end so people don't have to walk so far. I that that was difficult to find in the day, and in the middle of the night forget it.
We had 2016 last year and had people cutting through to get to the CS. I told DW that was the last time we stay in the tent loop.

My sister was in 2021, inside of loop, that is the site right next to the sidewalk. We were in 2022 on the outside of the loop and had no problems. Lesson learned, she will make sure to request an outside site next trip. We have two more trips scheduled for this year.
