A tad annoyed

I booked my Virgin flights before they announced the charge for prebooking seats. I understood that I could still prebook for free at 60 days but before that I would have to pay. I realised that there wouldn't be much choice at 60 days but took it on the chin.

It now transpires that people have booked waaaay in advance and are being given refunds. If I had known I could have done this, I would have booked for 3 of our party too! My daughter and I are hoping for bulkhead seats through Special Assistance.

Virgin needs to get its act together :(

It depends who you speak to though! After reading the thread on the Dibb the other day I did a live chat with VA as I have paid to book seats in the bubble outbound. The agent I spoke to wouldn't budge, and I had sent a link to the thread but it was a no - go. I was happy to pay to secure the seats I wanted, but as you say its annoying that some people are getting there seats pre booked for free well outside the 60 day mark, or having them refunded. I might try again just to be sure!

Claire :)

I might phone and see what they say but I don't hold out much hope. Would you have had to pay for seats in the bubble anyway or are they just standard seats?

No they are just standard seats - £25 for pre booking the economy ones. We just loved being in the bubble last time so wanted to make sure we sat up there again! :goodvibes

Claire :)

There not allowing me to book until 30 days out for free!! And I booked in advance if this change as well,
So I am supposed to be able to book at 60 days? I ended up paying for bubble for way home.
However was hoping for best for way out.

Joolz1910, did you get it sorted yet? If not try phoning Virgin on this no. 01293473999

Thanks, I will definitely ring them although I can't imagine that they will budge. If I had known, I would have booked the bubble too, especially if I would have been refunded :(

Not sure i am understanding correctly. Can you select your seats (for free) at 60 or 30 days? Or. Is there always a charge for selecting seats? If I don't select/pre-book, will they separate me from my kids? (9&12)

If you booked before November 12th then you should still be able to book your seats for free at 60 days out. If you booked after the 12th November (like me!) then you are either at the mercy of selecting seats at OLCI or paying £25 per person per way. There is no guarantee that you will all be sat together otherwise, especially if a lot of seats have been pre-booked. I am still trying to decide whether to pay or take the risk! Checked the seating plan today at 187 days out and already a fair few booked!

Or if you are a (red) flying club member, you can select seats 72 hours in advance. Sliver members can choose 14 days in advance.

I spoke to someone at VA and they confirmed that I would be able to book for free at 60 days out. They also said that I would not be entitled to a refund if I chose to pay for my seats. I am going to take a gamble as (hopefully) my DD and I will be assigned bulkhead seats at check in, which will mean DH will be seated with DD (11) and DD (7).

Juliette glad you raised this as we are a month away from our 60 days out with Delta/Virgin code share flights.

Like others we had booked before the change so hopefully Virgin will not make this difficult :)

Good luck, Reid. Hope you get the seats you want x
