APH rates for July & August?

WTH? Is the "no summer APH" thing official? I would never have bought APs if I'd have known this was going to happen. Bad decision on Universal's part. I'll never buy APs again.
the power pass has the black out dates, not the other aps.

on the website for the power pass info, it does state black out days may apply.

you could upgrade to the next level of aph and be able to use it during the summer

We already have Preferred Passes, so there are no blackout dates.

i was replying to this statement.
assumed person had the power passes.

when i booked, the smsm was applicable for 3 night stays

The 3 night SMSM rate does not include the Holiday, Peak and Summer dates, they start at 4 nights .
Regular and Value seasons can get the SMSM rate starting at 3 nights .

This is a new one I think mac? I have never seen the blocked out days extend to the resorts , only the parks. It looks like they may have changed that now ! Great news for all the power pass holders ...............NOT !

Discounts at on-site hotels
Rooms at this promotional rate are based upon availability. Advanced reservations required. Blockout dates and arrival/departure restrictions may apply.

when i went to the annual pass chart, i looked at the 3/power, preferred, premier passes.
in the check list on that page, i looked at the hotel discount columns.

all three have a check for restrictions.
i pasted what opened above.

i called and was told it can apply to all the hotels.
called again and told power pass.

who knows what i will be told if i called again.

since nothing else has been released by UO, i feel those blackout dates will only represent park entrance, not hotels.
(unless you get in a situation like i have now)

but i can tell you that i have the preferred ap and have a block out on using it for my hotel stay in october for my weekend dates.
booked 13 nights with the discount for the weekdays, but my weekends are at rack rate.
so i'm paying rack for a king suite on 3 of my nights.
i'm still working on solving my situation.
using the smsm tried switching to ap and none of the discounts are allowed on my weekend dates, only week day
dates.

yes, i have called twice to use the ap for a discount for 3 of my nights and have been told each time, no
i'll keep my ressie as i am getting the discount on all the other of nights.
still not satisfied paying rack (310) for the ks which costs a lot more than if i booked club.

I haven't seen any AP rates for those ,one this just yet but they should be rolling out soon. I've been able to get an AP rate every summer with no issues. Sometimes they come and go so keep checking your dates

ap rates have already been released for october

makes me wonder if anymore will be out for the months listed in this thread title.

I just spoke with a rep at Universal who told me that whether APH rates are available depends on how full the hotels are. The way she explained it to me, there are no set blockout dates, but Universal takes away APH rates once the hotels become booked to a certain capacity. She told me that for my dates in May, APH rates were available previously, but since the hotels are booked to near capacity now for May, they have discontinued the APH discounts for our dates. That makes perfect business sense to me. She told me that it is far more likely that APH will be available if you book early.

Just got off the phone with a Universal rep . I was looking for either an APH or AAA rate for our dates in early August . As she looked for me, she said almost all of the summer does not have APH rates, and the dates blocked off were actually in RED , which she said usually means .............they will not open up at a later date for APH rates . She was very surprised the whole summer was blocked out in RED . She did say to keep checking just in case, but she also said that dates in red , rarely open up .
So, I went with the 10% off AAA rate for a back-up for now. RPR, 2 rooms @ $296. each. King and queen connecting rooms will work just fine for us, and if you book through Universal or Loews (instead of Cheap Tickets or Orbitz) , the connecting rooms are guaranteed . Would have preferred PBR in a Portifino Suite, or even 2 rooms at PBR , but if I am paying close to rack rate .............. RPR will be just fine for us (we actually LOVE RPR anyway , just have grown fond of PBR too) .

I didn't know if you booked through Universal or Loews the connecting rooms were guaranteed? I have a reservation with cheap tickets for 2 rooms-I called PBH and they noted my reservation that I would like connecting rooms-has that always been the case if you book through them they can guarantee the adjoining rooms?

I booked through Universal . I jokingly asked the rep if the connecting rooms are "not guaranteed" , like most other requests, and she stated that if the connecting rooms are available in her system it is guaranteed. I said ......... really ? She said it was definite , since it was on her screen as available. She also said only the Universal or Loews reservation systems can see this information , as its real time, and not a "block" of rooms like Orbitz or CheapTickets. She had the real time availability and was able to guarantee connecting rooms .

Now ..........who knows if this is really true or not ????? Not me ! I am still slightly nervous that our rooms will not connect anyway , but we will see. The Rep was very insistent that it was guaranteed connecting since she saw it on her end ! My confirmation e-mail (on both rooms) also does say connecting , so we will see !

This is absolutely correct. Remember lots of families will have kids in other rooms and need them connected. This is only guaranteed thru Loews or universal.

I was told the same through calling that Universal can guarantee connecting rooms, but via Orbitz it is a request they try their best to meet. We were previously told that the only rooms they guarantee connecting were Garden view rooms at the three resorts. However I did get a rep. to guarantee connecting CL rooms for us both at HRH and PBH. Perhaps a new policy, which as a family of 7 (5 kiddos) I am happy with!

Thanks, been checking into that. SInce we are only staying for 2 days now, the SMSM rate doesnt apply .
We have always gotten 40%-45%+ off the AP rates in all the times we have gone so far.

The only issue I may have with the cheap tickets route is .........
#1. they dont have a king room available (dont need 2 queen rooms)
#2. not sure if a connecting rooms request would be a high priority when not booking directly through Loews/Universal ?

Will be calling , probably today to find out the scoop on the AP rates, and also checking for a AAA rate. If all else fails ...........may wind up booking with Orbitz or Cheap Tickets .

Well, you got me to thinking, and it turned out they do have HRH suites for our dates w/ the APH rate. I changed from our cheaptickets 2 double queen rooms to a king suite with a connecting queen bedroom because it's important to me that this is somewhat of a family vacation (a little different from most families here with little kids--I'm a single mom with adult kids, so we are separate, then together, then go our own way, etc. I thought having a suite would encourage some togetherness but give us space, as well. So thanks. I wish they had something suitable for your dates as well. Now I have to find out about this "you first" everyone keeps mentioning, since we'll be back probably every other year or so.
