Shuttle / ART to disneyland

Walking to Disney in the morning is great but walking back to the hotel at midnight is misery.

I'm looking for a hotel with a suite that I can take a shuttle / ART with.

What are your experiences with ART? How long does it take?

Is it cheaper to get a hotel further away and take ART?

Is it worth it ?

Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

I have not taken ART, but I would still recommend walking to your resort. I have stayed at the Clarion hotel and though it was a long walk, we always stop at the 7-11 on the way back and get a slurpee. Kinda helps the rest of the walk. I have also stayed across the street at the Best Western suites. Our favorite hotel was the jolly Roger Inn, but we drove by the other day and its gone. :(

The staybridge suits look like a really nice place and its on ART. We had planned to stay there on our last trip but ended up not needing a suite. They have some great options for food in the evening and for breakfast. We have small kids and staying close is more important to us at this point so we are going to try the Anaheim desert inn & suites this time.

We've stayed in a suite at the Sheraton Anaheim (on Ball Rd. and Disneyland Dr.). That hotel has its own shuttle which runs on time and doesn't share with any other hotels. The shuttle is included in the hotel rate, so we didn't have to buy a shuttle pass. (The Candy Cane Inn on Harbor also has a private shuttle that is included in the room rate.) The Residence Inn on Clementine is a great hotel and is on the ART route. If need be, you could also catch the ART at the Motel 6 next door, thus expanding your ART schedule options. We have friends who stayed at the Embassy Suites Garden Grove on Harbor. The rates were lower because the hotel is farther from the parks, they took the shuttle and had a great time.

We use the ART on all our trips... Usually we stay on Katella but once we stayed on Harbor and Orangewood..

The ART is $5. per day for Adults.. $2. for kids under 10. They also do cash fares , but you need the correct change and some of the drivers might argue with you.. but cash is accepted.... $5. ticket you can use it as many times as you like
.. they have access for wheelchairs..

They will run before park opening and after, but not sure of the exact hours..

They can get very busy .. specially at opening and closing times...

attached is the link to the ART and it will give you a map of the area , which hotels it services... times and prices...

I have heard many people complain about the ART . and I have seen a lot of rude people trying to push in the lines etc... but on the whole most people are nice.. been on the bus where everyone was talking and laughing with each other and been on one where no one looked up..
If you have a stroller make sure you get your child out of it and its folded before the bus arrives... that will make for a faster and smoother boarding...
if its real busy I always make my son sit on my lap.. some people dont ...

so like everything good and bad.. but for us worth it...

Hope you enjoy your trip..

I've heard people mention that the ART shuttles can get busy, especially at closing time. I'm wondering just how long of a wait to board people have experienced at closing time?

We have stayed at the convention center and used ART. Also at the Double Tree and the I think it was the Hyatt. It was just fine. Art is really pretty convenient. Sometimes you have another stop or two. We figured out at the double tree if you crossed the street it was one or two less stops on the way INTO the park. Another time we were on a small route that ended up being combined with another route on a weekday. You just never know. But in general if you map it out ahead of time and just can't kill yourself with a walk ART should work out just fine. Certain properties ART feels like it's just right outside the lobby.

I don't think we ever had a line at the end of the night so long that we had to watch a shuttle leave without us. But during a busy time this could happened with too many strollers and such in front of you.

By suite are you hoping for a kitchenette or...? We stayed at the Stanford (suite had bunks and 2 queens and a fridge and microwave, as well as two bathrooms), there was an ART stop a few steps away, and that stop is on both route 1 and 2, and a bus comes about every 20 minutes. And worst case, you can take one of the parking lot buses (stops between Katella and Orangewood) and walk half as far.

If you're planning on walking from your hotel in the morning anyway I'm assuming you're not planning to stay at somewhere way out of the way, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding room on a bus that goes along the main drag at closing time.
