12 seater or 15

Hi there are 8 of us staying off site looking at car hire we will have a suitcase each plus hand luggage so think we will need more than a 8 seater. There is very little difference in the cost of a 12 seater to a 15 seater, do you pay more for parking with a larger car? Do you pay more for tolls? How do they drive?
What would you chose 12 or 15 ?

Just a thought

Does your U.K. Driving Licence allow you to drive a 12 or 15 seater Minibus.

Or are you only allowed to drive a Max 8 seater ?

We went as a big group (4 adults, 5 kids) one year. We had a 12 seater and easily managed to fit us all plus all of our luggage. You should be fine to drive a 12 seater on your UK driving licence, as DH was. Not sure about a 15 seater but I can't imagine there is much difference. Not sure about parking, I'm afraid, as we were staying onsite.

OMG lost*in*cyberspace that link is dreadful has made us think twice, DH is a truck driver and has completed loads of advanced driving. Reading the article is says the problem is with older models so hoping as hiring one it will be a new van. We will be driving down to port canaveral but will just take our time but has put me off driving.

I'd have two cars so you can split up if you want to. It will increase parking costs but that would be worth it for me. So I'd go for two seven seater mini vans or SUVs. The latter are nicer but more expensive. One of the others and you're basically a bus driver. Not my idea of a holiday.

Another consideration is to use a transportation company from the airport for your luggage then that way you would only need an 8 seater whilst there.

We use a company called www.floridatransport.com who offer a fantastic service. Basically they collect you and all of your luggage & take you to your accommodation (Stopping enroute for a quick supermarket shop) next morning collect the driver/s and take to car rental where you collect your vehicle. On the day your coming home they meet you at your accommodation, load all of your luggage&passengers into there vehicle& then follow the driver to the rental garage. Drop off rental car, jump into there vehicle then they drop you all off at the airport door (hope all this makes sense)!!

That sounds good are they expensive? we are going from the villa to Universal but I suppose we could do 2 journeys if we needed to. I really want 2 cars but have been out voted hoping to convince on Sunday when the other family are coming round just think that we will be living in each others pockets to much but they have only been once before and are really happy to let us take charge. I was hoping someone on here would say they are dreadful to drive, really far to big, uncomfortable etc I am going to show them the link above about safety. But know it will possibly come down to cost.

You should just say you're not prepared to drive such a big vehicle and calmly state you will need two cars. You will be glad you're not all joined at the hip once you're there and the 15 seaters are not fun to drive at all IMO anyway.

Tbh usually there car hire prices can't be beaten, but if I'm honest even if they were a little more expensive we would still use them as there service is fantastic and takes all the hassle away. Rather than doing two journeys just ask them for a price for a taxi run??

Hope you get sorted what ever you decide.
