So I have our home resort booked for one of the 3 days and waitlisted the 2 others. I am hoping to switch to PVB at 8 am on the dot (provided there's availability!) in that process do I have a chance to cancel the other room I have booked for the 1 day out of the 3 or do I cancel before booking and take a chance? Im new so pardon my ignorance with this process! TIA!!!

To use the points from the home resort reservation for the new 7 month reservation requires that you cancel the first reservation before making the new one. In other words, there is a risk of ending up with no reservation if the new one disappears while you spend time canceling the old one.

If the new reservation would require you to borrow points if you did not cancel the old reservation first, then go here and view my post for supersnoop's procedure for doing the cancellation and new reservation online that avoids any risk of losing the new reservation if it is available when you first look:

I actually pasted and saved Drusba's instructions from that thread into an Evernote document a few weeks ago, it's absolutely brilliant!

I just wanted to add, and I'm not sure if this is true, but a CM I spoke with the other day said that the moment a booking is cancelled, it goes to wait lists, even if you just have a split second between cancelling and rebooking. That's why the method outlined above would be essential for not losing your original booking in case of any issues.

Good luck booking Poly! I've been seeing it vanish every morning at 8am on the dot. I gave up for now after encountering the technical issues kicking me back to the front page after having the booking already in Hold status, so watch out for that as well ;)

I know! its crazy how fast it books up! I have made a list in order of preference of a few resorts just in case I get shut out of the poly. But I have copied those instructions and I will have DH on one lap top and myself on the other so I am hoping we get lucky! If not the other resorts on my list will all be really cool to stay at too ! Very excited!
