Wine and Dine 2015

Had a pretty good running week, did 5 miles outside Sunday, 3 miles outside Monday, 7 miles Wednesday on treadmill and a 10k tonight on the treadmill. Averaging about a 10mm on treadmill and a 10:30 mile outside. Am really hoping to train enough to do under an hour on my 10k in May but will be ok with anything under an hour and 5 minutes.
And the really good news is my DH has finally started training again!

That was me! My husband is obsessed with Untapped - so much so that sometimes it drives me nuts!

Oh my gosh, me too! We will be out somewhere, and he won't put the phone down bc he's posting or looking up stuff on untapped.

Not a great running week for me. This is our worst/busiest week at work so I've been pooped every day. Got one lunch run of 3.5 miles done. I have a half tomorrow and am battling a sinus infection. We are having a cold snap this weekend. 34 degrees for race start in the morning. In Mississippi, that's just a little crazy for the end of March. Thought I had out away the ear warmers and gloves for good. Time to dig them back out

@ChicoChico I love the Welsh Dragon at Rose
& Crown in the UK, a refreshing odd combination of Midori, Peach Shnapps and Creme de Menthe shaken with pineapple and OJ. The barkeep, Gavin, taught me well. Mixed up a great one just yesterday.

Love the Red Stag Lemonade with Jim Bean Bourbon at AA Fife and Drum, perfect while watching a concert.

I admit, I give a whole new meaning to being a lightweight. Like a 1/2 teaspoon of rum in coke, lightweight. My husband could use a few beer buddies at Epcot, he likes good dark beer. I think he will enjoy the grapefruit beer at W&D.

Sounds great! The dark beers have always appealed to me the most.

I'm a big fan of the Grey Goose and Grand Marnier slushes in France! YUM! There is also a Sparkling Red wine at the wine shop at the front of Italy that is a must for me every trip now. I'm not a beer person but DH is, so he will be happy to join in the beer drinking fun. Someone mentioned untapped app, DH loves his.

Grand Marnier slush? This sounds fantastic! I'll have to have DH check out the app (I'm still in the dark ages and don't have a smart phone).

I will be the first to shout out that I do NOT like Beer. I'm a hard alcohol kind of guy. But being a good sport, I decided to try the beer flight at Beirgarten on our last trip in January. Thinking that maybe there is one that I could possible appreciate. I actually really enjoyed the grapefruit beer. Tasty, refreshing, kind of an alcoholic version of a fresca or squirt. It was nice. I will probably be trying it again for F&W.

Hmmm... This is turning into a long list of drinks to try! Is this kind of similar to a Blue Moon or a hefe?

Unibrou's LA Fin Du Monde at the Canadian pavilion is a must try if you like darker beers. Tried this last trip and it was really good. The margaritas at la cava are really good! Wow really liked the marnier slushy from France. Lots of different things to try.

The Food and wine fest is for you then! You will find sample sizes of craft brews at almost every stand (some will offer something more common and some full sized options or flights). As for mixed drinks, assuming both of these return, the Singapore sling (singapore stand) and the happy leche (china). Neither is for the weak, though. Fair warning!!

As for options from Epcot's more permanent stands, the grapefruit beer in Germany as others mentioned, as well as the passion fruit margarita from la cava (inside the Mexico pavilion there is a bar and drink ordering window).

I'm taking notes on all of this... Thank you! Are all of these options going to be available after the race at the after-party?

Happy Friday, all! :p

From my memory all the food and wine stands are open at the after party

A 59:59 10K is my goal for May, too!

Good luck tomorrow. I'm running a half tomorrow, too. Forcast is for 28 degrees at start time. BRRRRRR! I have to totally rethink my clothing choices. I think I'm going to get some of those hot pads that you use for injuries. Placing one on my lower back keeps me warm until I warm up running.

I also just went to the cvs clinic for a sinus infection, those are the worst :( (I have been getting one a year where it feels like a toothache because I'm all swollen). But, at least I know why I've felt so horrible since I returned from PHM! GL with your race!

5K this morning.. 26 degrees.. 90 seconds faster than last week's time but still not great.. yikes.. Supposed to warm up this week and hoping to increase the mileage!

I have no need to test my fitness right now. I'll have a few 5k races late April, early May, mostly as LT test times. Right now my long run is a 4-5mi run at an "easy pace." Every week, I'll add an 800m to my mid-week speed workouts. The only speed now, is during intervals at 10k pace, with plenty of rest between intervals. The rest interval will naturally come down as my fitness improves. I have a McMillian 10k plan that I am loosely following until late June. Then I start Galloway 1/2 marathon plan the first week of July (http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/training/running/plans/2014/Wnd/WnD14_Time.pdf). The Galloway plan will be very low intensity through the summer months, to avoid heat stress, injuries. So I have two training seasons, one to help get a good Proof of Time in June, and the second to get ready for the Wine and Dine 1/2.

I more or less have the same schedule. I am doing my 10k the last week of June and then starting my half plan the second week of July (I'm excited to be able to run around Martha's Vineyard because I will be on vaca!) I have the distance so I'm planning on focusing on speed moreso.

Also, I saw on another board that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the food and wine fest! I hadn't realized that, but maybe they will really do it up for us!

Capital 10 Miler this morning for me. 1:32:42. 26 degrees with wind chill of 18. Cold; especially running miles upon miles northbound along the Susquehanna River. Now done 3x 10 mile races. All 3 finish times are within 12 seconds of each other. But it was a very nice, well organized race. There were some choke stretches that caused a little bunching up of the pack.

Next up: the Hershey 10k, with DW.

Managed to get in a nice 3 1/2 mile walk outside! Waiting until my new inserts come in before I start running again. And it was fun checking out my neighborhood. We moved in just before Christmas so really haven't gotten to walk around much.

Good luck tomorrow @mbwhitti!

@mbwhitti Best of luck! Feel better, soon.

THANKS everyone!! Even with the cold (snow flurries at mile 11) and sinus stuff, I was able to pull out a new PR!! 2:08:39 :cool1:

I was on pace for under a 2:05 finish until about mile 7. That's when the hills hit and I started losing stamina. I also had to stop and retie my shoe 3 times...it was too lose. I guess with the cold and my shaky hands, I just couldn't get it tight enough. I lost about a minute with all three of those stops. I'm still super excited. I'm definitely paying for it today though..I have no voice. Since the majority of my job requires talking, it should be an interesting day.

Bentonville half is my next race too! My first half! Also looking for a certified 10K and trying not to stress about March 17th. Yes this is my first post :) I have been reading the forum for weeks and finally decided to sign up!

Hey, @acruse41, how did your run go? We had a great run. The weather was a bit cold starting out, but once we got going the temp was perfect. I could have lived without the light rain off and on, but even that wasn't bad. We took things pretty easy and I mostly walked up the steep portions of the big hill, but we ended up with a 2:42 half. Well over my PR, but still a fun race.

I'm the Untapped addict in the family. Which is amusing, because my husband is much more of a beer lover/drinker than me. I'm just more social-media inclined. I'm Rogueknits there as well if anyone (or their husband) wants to friend me. :)

Way to go!!! I'm getting nervous for my first race on the 18th. It is a 15K because I wanted to get a time to see kind of where I"m at. I have been training for awhile but have been sick and had some dental work that kept me down for a bit. Now my nose is so stuffed it is driving me nuts! My original goal was to pace at about 13:15mm but now I"m just hoping I don't get kicked out for being behind the 15mm requirement lol. I'm still new to running so just finishing will be a big accomplishment for me! I just need to feel better so I can get a couple more long runs in before the big day!
