what are your favourite things to do in Celebration?

Hi everyone

We are travelling to WDW the last 2 weeks of August and as we have a car, we were thinking of a morning trip to Celebration. Any ideas for breakfast would be great and also parking as MIL has problems walking. She will be fine over short distances and will have an ecv if necessary. We are excited about the dog bakery, but otherwise would love your thoughts on the best places to visit and things to buy outside the world.

Many thanks
Suzanne

Parking shouldn't be a problem at Celebration - we regularly park on-street but there is at least one central small car park. You should be able to drop your MIL off by the lake, park and be back with her within a few minutes if necessary. There are rocking chairs by the lake (a few shallow steps down) if it's not too hot to sit in full sun, but also other benches around overlooking the lake not down any steps, so you should be able to find some shade. There is a nice fountain (the sort with irregular squirts that children play in, if you know what I mean), also by the lake and near what used to be the cinema (it still looks like a cinema). The centre is quite small and compact with plenty of cafes. It's been a long time since I used one so I wouldn't make any recommendation about breakfast. We regularly grab a coffee from Starbucks have a walk by the lake, a sit in the rocking chairs and leave :). Still one of those places we visit every time though.

Agree with pp about parking, there is plenty to be found.

We had breakfast at the Market Street Cafe, you can sit in or outdoors. Some of the restaurants don't serve breakfast, they open at lunch. Sunday is a good morning to visit, but busier as there will be more locals around, although you will get Sunday brunch and they used to be a farmers market every Sunday.

The ice cream is good from Kilwins, near the dog parlour.

We also like to walk round the lakes but this might not be an option unless you use the ecv.

At best it is a few hours of sightseeing & a look around .

Then Retrace your journey back to Hwy 192 & head Left ( West ) and on to Hwy 27

Turn Right onto Hwy 27 North & Drive on for approx 10 miles ..... ON your RIGHT is

Showcase of Citrus a working Orange Grove , Cattle Ranch & ( And Bee hives ).

Here you can See & Pick your own Oranges etc & you can take a Trip in the BIG Wheeled Buggy..

After that .... Turn Right onto Hwy 27 North ( heading for Clermont ) and within 3 miles

TURN Left into Lake Louisa State Park for some relaxation ...

Back onto Hwy 27 North ...... LOOK OUT & Slow down for Junction Hwy 50 East to Orlando ... GOING RIGHT .

Drive on Passed Killarney AND before TURNPIKE Turn Right onto Toll Road HWY 429 South

Heading for Hwy 192 >>>>>> TAKE EXIT ..... HARTZOG Road ( Hwy 192 )

Turn onto Hartzog Road ....... AND YOU are BACK in Disney area.

That is a really interesting & pleasant trip of 60 odd miles of real florida

Breakfast or lunch at Market Street Cafe is worth doing as is a walk round the lake.
It's a nice little town.
Have a great trip.

We love to walk around the lake, there are many different routes you can take. We saw an alligator on our last trip. Also, we like to look at the property and see what we can't afford ;)

We like have a wander and sitting having a drink over looking the lake or watching the world go by :)

We tend to go to dinner more than mornings though now and its nice in the evenings too!

We stayed at the Celebration Hotel for a number of years: it is a lovely hotel if you don't have children. The restaurant there is good for breakfast, cool with great service. You can sit on the deck or indoors. While there, ask the staff if you can have a look to see if Celebration Charlie (the alligator) is basking on the back ledge round the lake. We used to see him every day, just basking. We never got very close, but he seemed completely unbothered by people taking his picture! Last time we went to the Market Street Café we thought it was going downhill a bit. There is a bakery/coffee shop at the top end of Market Street (Sweet Things?? Can't remember), that bakes on the premises and does some nice pastries.

An ice-cream for me at Kilwins and I bought a pair of slippers in a shop there, I'm wearing them now and not a mouse in sight on them!

Thanks everyone, having a bit of a planning day today, so will add a few hours for Celebration onto the chart.:goodvibes

Do as I said in my post above... follow my plan & you will not regret it.

Also as you pass by " Killarney " stop and look at what it is ( a 5 min stop ).

See the Real Florida.

Note If you wish to have Lunch ..... then try the " Golden Corral " on Hwy 50

On the Right Just after you turn Right from Hwy 27 .

A much newer & less touristy place .

Thanks woodview it looks like we'll have a few gaps in our plan, so will likely follow a few of your suggestions and take time out of the bubble :thumbsup2

We have breakfast at Market St Cafe, then have a long walk around the lake and we finish looking at the houses there and dreaming about winning the lottery.
