May 2-9, 2015 Disney Fantasy Anyone?

My partner and I and a friend of ours are going on the Fantasy May 2-9, 2015. This will be our first time cruising with Disney. Also the first time cruising without other friends.

We are most concerned with dinner in the dining room. Does Disney like to play matchmaker with cruisers? I really just don't want to get seated with people I don't know who aren't going to be comfortable sitting with 3 gay men. Am I over thinking this?

you may want to request a private table, unless you are into chatting it up with strangers. DCL tries to seat parties with similar groups , not hook singles up like a matchmaker. So if you are interested in meeting new people during dinner, you can. If you'd rather spend time with your travel-mates, they usually can seat you privately in the main dining rooms.

We miss you by a week - we disembark the Fantasy on the 2nd May!

This is our second cruise, we requested a table for two on our first one but it wasn't granted. We went to the dining assignments when we got on board to see if they had managed to do it for us but was told we could only have it if we switched to second seating, as we don't like to eat late we declined.

Our table mates were a Floridian couple in their 70s who prayed before each meal (we are in our early 40s). The only thing we had in common was it there first Disney cruise too! However, they were very polite and we had nice conversations each evening although I think they turned a blind eye to our sexuality. Being British gave them enough to talk about :rotfl2:

We have requested a private table again this cruise but I don't hold out much hope. I just hope if it isn't granted we have nice people to eat with a again!

We are on the same cruise. Not gay, but my wife and I are very gay friendly and we have a daughter that is lesbian.

This will be our 13th DCL cruise and our experience in the dining rooms (and other venues) has been positive concerning "obvious" LGBT travelers. However, if you happen to get placed at a table with some less than tolerant folks, just speak to the head server and they will switch you to another table.

I'll echo OKW Lover's sentiments. My husband and I have never felt even the slightest shred of anti-gay sentiment directed toward us in any of our 5 Disney cruises. To the contrary, we have met some really lovely straight allies. If anyone has done any whispering behind our backs, I don't know about it and don't care about it.

Enjoy...you're going to have a wonderful cruise.

Just bumping this conversation since we sail in just a few days. Hope we run into the OP on board.

It was a wonderful cruise for us. Hope the OP enjoyed it as well. Would be interested in hearing their experience.

We were on the ERAEERA rotation and I did notice three guys at dinner the first night wearing ears (nothing unusual about that) that I though might have been the OP's party.

Nope wasn't us. We actually ended up having to reschedule our cruise. We are now going on the Fantasy June 6-13th. Glad to hear you had a good time though!

Well, at least we know those three guys were having fun!
