Ideas to carry backpack

This is the first time my family and I will be going to the parks without a stroller, so don't have a place where to carry the backpack (with clothes in case of wet ride, sunblock, etc) and none of us (DH, DS8, DS12) want to carry it.
Any ideas on how to pack very light with change of clothes for each one and other necessities, without it being very big and heavy?

you could use the pay family lockers in the front of the studios to keep your back pack there.

do the wet rides first and then return to retrieve your backpack and change clothes.
carry on with the rest of the day and don't repeat the wet rides.

when you rent the family locker, you can open and close, reuse it the entire day.

it is not one of the use one time and pay for the period only.

We just did WDW for the first time with out strollers (we have 5 yo twins). My husband just sucked it up and wore the backpack. The other option would be for your kids to wear those thin string nylon backpacks with their stuff. They are light and I'm guessing they don't need much.

Have fun!

We tried that with boys 8 & 10. The 8 yo lost his the first bathroom break...

I second doing the lockers. Better yet, put the boys in rash guards, long trunks, and water sandals and don't worry about changing clothes. You can wear cute running gear that dries quickly in the heat. The rest of what you have to have will fit in a cute crossbody bag.

We carry more than one backpack. One a cooler backpack from Igloo with waters etc in it. Sunblock in the side mesh pockets of it. Then a soft Rick Steves backpack to carry other things. Once DS was 8 he carried the cooler backpack. Not much of a choice for him. And it encouraged water-drinking so it would get lighter.

To me, lockers are a pain. You have to go back to them to get anything. No thank you.

If this is a multiday trip, take one day or half day to do the wet rides. Dress for them, and once you're done, either change or go back to the hotel. DS and DH aren't fans of staying all day in trunks because of chafing issues, but we haven't yet gone during a hot hot hot dry-once-you-get-out-of-the-water time.

And, FWIW, if you guys had ever dealt with theft from your stroller you would have seen that the stroller was never a safe place for the stuff. We dealt with that and therefore we were carrying backpacks from when DS was 4. Therefore we had *less* with us once we were done with the stroller.
