May 2016

Online it will open when the packages are released - historically june/july-ish.

Though, if you don't need a package and just want to reserve a site, you can call now.

We are doing June of 2016 and our campsite is already booked. The prices may change as the actual packages come out, but yes, you can book it now.

I have a question and hoping someone on here might be able to enlighten me. I called today to make a reservation for a preferred site from 2/27/16 - 3/4/16 and rate was $154 a night. Any ideas why it's so high?

That's peak season. 2015 rack rates for those dates are $145/weeknight and $151/weekends. Your price will also fluctuate once prices for 2016 are released and any discounts added.

Welcome to Disney, they can charge obscene prices because there is the demand to stay at the campground. That is why there is very rarely discount offers made either. If they can charge that much and folks keep paying it, no reason to change it.

Thanks....I hadn't thought about that being peak season. But I guess all those people going down to get away from the snow, could make that peak season...lol

Late February to Early March is PEAK? Are you sure about that?

I suspect the rates are listed as the "Higher" rates (as if it was peak) because the rates for 2015 have not yet been set. I am sure it will change once you get closer.

Here is a nice summary of the 2015 rates for campsites: http://www.mousesavers.com/2015-ft-wilderness-campsites-rates-season-dates/

When it comes to site rates, there's High, Higher, Higher Still, Way High..... you get the picture. The winter/offseason period expires around Valentines Day then it's Up-There-For-Spring until after Easter and spring break time. There is a Peak season listed but it's a bit of misnomer since it's surpassed by special periods like Easter and Holiday - highest rate period is still around Christmas through New Years.

For the record, you can book 500 days in advance. Rates for the next year are normally set in the summer and the on-line pricing tools are updated within a day or two. If it is prior to new rates being available (such as booking now in April 2015 for May 2016), you will be booked at 2015 rates and then adjusted to 2016 pricing when it becomes available. Until rates are set, you have to phone in a reservation.

I'm not a gambler but I'm willing to bet that 2016 rates won't be lower than 2015. :joker:

I don't think I will take that bet.

It just seems very odd that the time from Feb 16 through Mar 28 is PEAK. I get the time around valentines. Maybe the week after, and certainly the week before Easter, but the rest of it? WOW! The funny thing is I am going in Early to mid June of 2016 and would almost expect that to begin a Peak season but it's listed as "Regular". I guess they have their reasons. (We call it profit!)

I always thought it was High, Really High, Stupidly High and So high they were obviously smoking something... :rotfl2:

I'm with Ed though, Presidents/Valentine's Day through Easter are peak rates. For a Premium site, that's around $150/night. "Regular" rates are still $130. Price we pay for the best...

My guess is less people wanting to camp in the heat of the summer.

Just keep in mind that Easter is early (end of March) next year, so that will affect the season rate dates.
