Ok, so it will be our first stay at OKW, regular studio.

We wont have a car and so, Im wondering if everything is within walking distance, and which buildings I should request.

Thank you

When you say everything, what are you referring to? The Hospitality House? This is a separate booking category called Near Hospitality House. If you did not book that category then the closest you can get to HH would be Bjdgs 62, 63, and 64 which are also the only buildings with an elevators. If you do not get those and still want to be relatively close to HH then it would be bldg 27 on Penninsular Rd or 16 on Millers Road

We stayed at OKW last month and we didn't have a car. Bell services will take you to your room when you check in and pick you up when it is time to check out. Other than that you will mostly depend on the buses. The park buses are pretty good as far as frequency. They stop at each of the bus stops, then Hospitality House, then to the parks. When you are returning the park bus goes to the bus stops first and then Hospitality House last. It is easy to get from your room to Hospitality House for food or swimming, because any park bus will take you there. It is a little tricky to get from Hospitality House back to your room. Everything is not within walking distance and even if it was, sometimes rain will keep you from wanting to walk. There is an internal bus that will take you from Hospitality House to the bus stops, but that bus doesn't come very often.

It was okay to be at OKW without a car, but I can see why some people prefer to have one when they stay there.

We'd always had a car at OKW until our first "non-car" stay a few months ago. It went great, although we'd been very worried beforehand. A little golf cart took us to our room and picked us up. We were in building 28-a short walk to the first bus stop and close to the pool (even for our 4 yo DGD's little legs!).

We stayed at OKW in a room near the HH without a car. I know people complain about the buses and how remote OKW is, but it seemed pretty efficient and didn't bother us at all. I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I really liked OKW.

I wasnt able to book the Near Hospitality House category. Thank you very much for suggesting some buildings not in that category. We will have a 6 and 4 year old, and Im sure they will want to use the pool and we will also be getting some of our meals at Olivia's.

Its good to know its not too hard to get there, but will be harder getting back to our room if we are far away. Thank you!

I was also worried about getting our luggage to our room, so its good toknow there are golf carts available

OKW.

Hopefully we wil be lucky and have a room close to the HH

Thank you all for your replies!

Turtle Pond area is very nice too! It has its own smaller pool area and the particular building we stayed in was not a bad walk at all to Hospitality House. We rarely have a car at OKW and no issues at all. I have requested near Hospitality House though in recent trips.

HH is a booking category, if it's not shown on your reservation you will not be staying in a HH building

The only time we ever stayed at OKW we were in far end of bldg 22 in the Millers Road section. The walk to the bus stop was long and the buses couldn't seem to maintain a schedule. The walk up to the main pool area was HORRID as we had to walk all the way around the top of the resort - there was no direct path so we had to go up and around past bldgs 64 & 15 & 62 (it was August and it was sooooo hot). By the time we got back to our room from the pool we were dripping with sweat & I thought I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion. IIRC it was at least a 12-15 minute walk one way just to get to the pool area. Totally ruined a refreshing afternoon in the pool. I would never stay there again unless I could be guaranteed a villa in the HH section. JM2C.

actually our first OKW GV was in Bldg 22. Only thing we didn't like was walking in the streets once we were past Bldg 20. Had zero issues with the buses...and walked more than a few times up to HH as we had no car and for the front desk questions and pick up packages and drinks. Although we swam at the quiet pool between #19 and #20. Loved the location, very quiet area. So different strokes for different folks. We were carting two double strollers too! Loved the view from GV in 22, better than the HH GV... 2017 will tell which GV we will try for as GC will be old enough to walk up to HH pool by themselves...hummmm, maybe not....I'm sure one of the adults will tag along.

We have stayed I 23 26 and 48. I belive 48 is the handicapped grand villa bldg and never really had issues with out a car there always seemed to be plenty of room on the bus to run. Up to the he and plenty to get on and ride back

Ssr on the other hand being near the last stop was horrible to get a bus but we found it a short walk just a couple min n longer then the closest stop to one of the first stops

We have stayed at OKW 5 times and only been in the HH booking category twice. We never have a car. Don't mind it at all. You can always pick up any bus as the last shop is always the main area. Will fully admit that we don't mind walking though. You could always walk to the first bus stop which is by the main area and take it to your respective area. OKW is our favorite because when we are there, we enjoy the laid back feel of the resort.

Yes, different strokes. We disliked it so much that we haven't been able to talk ourselves into going back since that stay (in 2007). Our DS (10 at that time) was NOT happy to stay at the quiet pool when the main pool had that cool sandcastle slide - so there was no escaping the walk up to the main pool!! The view was fine but wasn't enough to compensate for waiting an hour+ for buses sometimes and the dreaded walk in 93 degrees. I don't imagine we'll be back any time soon either (unless we're scaping the bottom on borrowing points or something). It's just not a good resort to not have a car IMO. Glad you're OK with it tho.

Stayed twice without a car in buildings 18 and 16 both on Millers Road. Building 16 was fab! Close to HH and near enough to quiet pool and bus stop. It is possible to walk to DTD although we didn't try it (August heat!)

I would think that either of those 2 bldgs would be significantly better than #22 and almost as good as the HH category for convenience...
