Am I the only one with hungry hungarian hoards?

I think sharing at TS and then snacking later can be a cheaper way to enjoy a TS restaurant even with big eaters.

OP I've often wondered the same thing! Pretty much chalked it up to my family eating too much. But really, DH and I just love to eat. We haven't shared since younger DS was a toddler. DH cleans his plate; my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach but I'm too stingy to share and the boys prefer their own meals anyway. DS12 eats all day long now so there's no way he could share! Bad enough at home he finishes a huge lunch/dinner and is hungry again 90 minutes later lol.
In theory like the idea of splitting a CS meal so as to enjoy a snack in the park later. But, I know my family. First 2 people would have to agree on a meal, and then of course agree to share. I can try it on our next trip but I'm not holding out hope!
I do try to talk them out of apps when we're in WDW, especially if there's a dessert they want on the menu. VERY rare that one of us will finish an app, entrée, AND dessert and while we don't worry about $$ when away, I hate wasting the food. If we do get apps we'll share them.
I never share my dessert though. Your hand gets smacked if your fork comes anywhere near it!

I remember reading these boards before I went on my first adult trip and them saying you can easily split the rotisserie chicken at Cosmic Rays so that was what I planned for...until I actually saw them. Hell no, I am not sharing that. I am not a big lady (my photo is me at my largest before I lost weight) and I wouldn't say I eat that much but that is way too small for me to share with someone who had the same appetite as myself. Not even going to bring the boyfriend into it because he can eat forever. I can understand that the TS meals would be a lot bigger - I couldn't finish my burger at Sci-Fi for example. But for my boyfriend and I, we couldn't share a meal.

However on our last trip, his sister and I shared one of the combo meals at the Japan CS in Epcot and that was good to share. And we did split a turkey leg - I cut off all the meat I wanted onto a plate and handed her the leg. It just all depends on the place, your family and your personal appetite. I wouldn't take anyones advice about portions without a photo as everyone is different. :)

We pretty much always share dessert though as a disney cupcake would (and has) sent me into a sugar coma. I think I've finally learned to handle my eyes being bigger than my stomach!:rotfl:

I'm sure you are not alone. But appetites range from bird like to voracious. So for many people, the entrees may well be sharable. One thing that DH and I agree on is that American restaurants like the ones in the parks seem to have very large serving sizes. Its not unusual for us to share an appetizer and dessert when we have our own entrees. Or to each have an appetizer but share an entree.

But I do agree that there are a few restaurants that serve smaller portions that would probably not be suitable for sharing by 2 adults with a big appetite.

One thing I think it may depend on is how people define the "meal" they are splitting. I find many of the appetizers to be the size of an entree without a side, so yeah if we're talking an appetizer, then an entree, and then a desert, I could split it and be more than satisfied.

When you're just talking entrees or entrees and desert (which I think is what most people typically do), then I think it becomes less likely that two adults can split and both be satisfied. (A small eater adult with a small eating child possibly.)

I'll add the time of year may also impact. When we go during food and wine there's a lot more snacking, so sharing a meal would be more likely. Or in the summer if it's really hot and humid (and especially if you're not used to it).

I will also add I'm a vegetarian and have never had a vegetarian entree in Disney that would be big enough to split unless it was supplemented by appetizers, deserts, a milkshake or smoothie, and/or a lot of snacks that day. I'm very slim and active and few of my friends would consider me a big eater, so I don't think the portion are exceptionally large.

The only time we tend to share is at The Plaza with the club sandwich at lunch but then we also get a sundae. We prefer sharing lunch only because we know with the heat and the amount of activity we are doing a big meal is a day killer at times. We don't really snack much either.
Winter is definitely different. We only share then if we know we have a big table service that night or had a big breakfast buffet.

My son would laugh me out of the restaurant if I dare to suggest that we share a meal! The boy can eat!! If we did share, he'd be like your husband, asking for food an hour later. Lol.

We dont do appetizers. We'd rather have dessert. (we cant do apps, entree, plus dessert, that would be too much having all 3).

Same here!!!! lol

We pretty much only get dessert on vacation. My DS and I sometimes share a meal at CS simply because he likes more adult food options. He's not a chicken nuggets and mac and cheese kinda kid. Especially if I'm eating grilled salmon, roasted chicken, pasta, etc. He wants mommy's food so we will share and get another meal later on and share it too. This is especially true at Epcot where we like to try a lot of different things. But my kiddo can put away the food if its something he really likes. He puts away an adult pasta meal at Olive garden regularly and he's 5. A lot of disney kids meal choices and portion sizes don't cut it. We get the DDP and use most of his counter service credits at places that don't offer kids meals (Les Halles, Yorkshire fish shop) or places with more appealing kids choices (Wolfgang Puck, Be Our Guest, Sunshine Seasons). We almost never share a table service since they have better kids options for him or we do AYCE meals where he can pick what he likes. Getting dessert all week certainly feels like vacation decadence for us.

When it comes to eating, I'm like my chocolate lab is with his food... I'm not sharing it for the world. :rotfl2: I myself don't like to feel bloated and stuffed when I leave the table, but I am pretty active and do have a pretty good appetite. Perhaps I don't feel stuffed with my meal because I pass on the bread, mashed potatoes, fried appetizers, fried entrees, heavy sauces and when I do have a desert it's when we dine at a signature restaurant for dinner (which we almost always do). When it comes to beef, a 6-8 oz filet is enough; but most of the time I will get a fish entree or chicken. I'll snack during the day as well, but it's just not cupcakes, funnel cakes, and etc. So when it comes to meal time, sharing? I love my DW and DD, and would give my life for them, but I'm not sharing my plate with them. :lmao:
