My mum and I are going to mnsshp in september for the first time. Am I right in understanding that even adults can dress up in costumes at the party? are there any restrictions?
thanks!

Restrictions are no masks and as a general rule you should not have a professional Disney Character costume where you could actually be considered to actually be a Disney CM.

I would like to add to the previous poster that your costume must not be offensive. Remember this is Disney so keep the kids in mind.

I really enjoy MNSSHP and dress up all the time since I enjoy making my own costumes. I agree with the previous poster regarding masks but honestly I have seen some people with masks and got away with it. I also think that Disney is a little more lenient during MNSSHP because I have seen some costumes that have rivaled some of the CM costumes. In any event I say do what you want and take your chances because the worse that could happen is Disney will ask you to change.

We always dress up. It's a lot of fun and we are only kids at heart. We wore our renaissance festival outfits and got many compliments from CM's and guests. Go whole hog and enjoy yourself.

About half the adults wear costumes and many more wear Halloween themed shirts. Some of the guests looked very much like Disney characters, but as long as you don't sign autographs or encourage other guests to pose with you, you'll be fine. One thing to keep in mind is it is still hot and humid in September so think cool when planning your costume. These are the guidelines that were posted in last year's MNSSHP Guest List and Discussion thread on the disboards. There will probably be a new thread started once this year's party dates are announced:

Costume rules for MNSSHP:

Halloween costumes should not:

--Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches)

--Drag on the ground

--Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest

--Be offensive to other guests

--Contain any weapons which resemble or could be easily mistaken for an actual weapon

You can go in "professional" level Disney costumes if you like. I spent months making a Rapunzel dress and a matching Flynn Rider outfit for my husband and got lots of compliments. The only thing we were told was by one cast member at the gate that we need to be sure to not take any pictures or sign any autographs with guests. We had no issues. I also have a friend who has an amazing Jack Sparrow ensemble and persona. When he went to MNSSHP at Disneyland he had a couple of CM's trail him through the park making sure he didn't pose for photos or sign autographs, but he was still allowed to come. Many guests wanted to take pictures of our costumes but we just couldn't be in the pictures with the guests. I had many CM's verify that this was ok. I also saw two amazing Anna and Elsas with dresses that definitely rivaled my own. Seamstresses love MNSSHP because we can showcase our hard work and Disney love.

You will have so much fun. I love dressing up for this. I never go to crazy but there are some people that go all out and it is amazing!

It's definitely cool for the adults to dress up. Why should the kids get all the fun? :rotfl:

We're going and dressing up for the third time this October.

Have fun!
