Are you sure the Wanyama is for club level only? I thought the Sunrise Safari Breakfast was for club/concierge guests only. The Wanyama Safari is open to all and includes a 1.5 hour safari and then dinner at Jiko. Is this true?

Sunrise Safari was discontinued

I apologize in advance as I am sure this question has been asked many times, but I cannot find the response:

We are renting DVC points for a Jambo studio for our upcoming vacation. Are we allowed to use the Kidani pool?

Thanks!

Yes you can, in fact they had a shuttle van that runs just between the two resorts, you catch it right at the main entrance. It just runs continuously back and forth. They even had towels in the van :)

They aren't doing the breakfast safari anymore last I heard... or we would have signed up for it.

Below is right out of my AKL-CL packed the IPO offices sends out:

WANYAMA SAFARI

Wanyama Safari is an approximately one-and-a-half hour safari experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge where our

guests will experience a re-creation of a true African afternoon game drive. Your safari will conclude with a true Family Style

African dining experience at Jiko, just like the lodges in Africa where a multi-course meal will await you, which may include

a complimentary wine pairing if you are over 21 years of age.

Safaris are offered daily. Guests must be 8 years of age or older. The cost of this experience is $190.64, which includes all

taxes and gratuity. A small contribution to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund is also included. 48 hour cancellation

policy does apply so a credit card is required at time of booking. Admission is limited to 12 Guests and can be reserved 180

days in advance of arrival.

Safaris are subject to minimum booking requirements. Jiko will present a check at the end of the meal. No meal packages

or discounts can be used to pay for this event.

I have reservations for the Wanyama Safari and I'm not concierge. They didn't ask when I called and booked it just looked up my reservation to confirm I was staying there.

Wondering how you snuck that one in there... even my friend who just booked a trip and is staying at AKL is doing the "Night Vision" and the "Jungle Trek" safaris but when she asked about the Wanyama she was told it was club level only.

Your friend needs to call back if she really wants to do the Wanyama Safari. I've had a CM on the phone tell me they thought it was CL only, but once I was transferred to a person who could actually book it they knew that all AKL guests can book the Wanyama Safari. We don't stay club and the pix of the Giraffe in my avatar was taken on my second Wanyama Safari last January

WOW, you know one of the reasons we are staying CL this time is I have never done it before and thought I would treat us since we are there for 12 days and 11 nights. My BF and I are Park Commandos and never tried club level cause we don't tend to hang out at the resorts much...... and the second big reason was this Club Level Only safari!

My friend is already in Florida, just got there today... they booked the Jungle Trek and Diving with the fish at EPCOT already... I will have to tell her that for next time for sure!

First time visiting AKL with DH only for our anniversary celebration.
Feel very guilty about not taking kids this year and I have questions.
AKL is totally for me and I want to spend time there with a savannah view room. My DH wants me to get the most out of the trip because he calls it my 'mini trip' to Africa since he knows I probably will never really be able to go.

Any advice? Can you just gets drinks at Sanaa and enjoy animals from the balcony. We were told to do this prior to our dinner reservations but I was wondering if you can just do drinks there without dinner.

Sorry if I'm naive here but we've never been anywhere but POR

Sanaa has a wonderful lounge where you can have drinks and even order off a smaller menu (we did the cheeses and the breads). It is not, however near a balcony nor can you see the animals from inside the lounge. You can certainly do drinks in the lounge before your dinner; we have done it! If you want to have a drink on a balcony while watching the animals you can always use your savanna view balcony off your villa! There are some wonderful African wines for sale in the gift shop as well as beers and (slightly) overpriced bottles of liquor.

Have a guilt-free trip. You will come back home to those kiddos as a refreshed Mom! :goodvibes

**Thanks! I thought I read somewhere that if you can't get a window seat you could get drinks and head to balcony** I must have read that wrong.
Does anyone know the difference between a room that is a Savanna View room or an Arusha view room?

We will be staying at AKL May 12-19 and will be our first time at AKL. Can't wait to get back to my second home, but don't want it to be over with at the same time.:tongue:

my husband and i will be staying at AKL may 12th-20th. it is essentially a belated honeymoon because we didnt have the money for one after getting married last year may 1st. we are excited as we've both been before but not together and ive never stayed on disney property. looking forward to it!!

AKL is like a vacation within a vacation, IMO, and from what I've read the CL rooms have great views of Arusha Savanna near the lobby and the food offerings are reportedly very good. Wanyama is a fairly exclusive experience due to the 12 person maximum and the price, we've liked it so much that we hope to do it a 3rd time this December.

**...
Does anyone know the difference between a room that is a Savanna View room or an Arusha view room?
Arusha view would overlook the middle savannah of AKL Jambo, Arusha Savanna is 11 acres and due to its' shape it appears to be the largest to many people. Savanna view in Jambo would be either Uzima Savanna which like Arusha is 11 acres or the 18 acre Sunset Savanna which is the Savanna between Jambo and Kidani (the DVC only building.) Both Uzima and Sunset Savannas have people pens which some would rather not see, although the rooms over the people pens have reportedly been downgraded to standard view these days.
I personally wouldn't pay a lot more for Arusha view as all the Savannas have had giraffes and zebras lately along with other critters - but for the same price (eg: DVC) would request or for just a bit more (cash room) would book Arusha for a first visit.

I hope you guys have a great belated honeymoon. I think the atmosphere at AKL would be perfect for your first trip together and on property. It has displaced the Polynesian for the non-Beach Club part of our split stays.

I read that there's a shuttle that runs between Jambo and Kidani. Can you walk it? If so, how long is the walk? We are traveling with DD who will be traveling in a wheelchair due to spine surgery. It's often more work to get her out of the chair, fold the chair, hope she has a seat and not standing... Walking is easier usually.

Yes, it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk between Jambo & Kidani.
Know also that all park buses stop at Kidani first and then stop at Jambo. DTD buses stop at Jambo first and then at Kidani, so you can ride the bus between the two as well if that is easier w/ the wheelchair than a shuttle van.

Thank you. I knew that park buses start at Kidani - another reason I asked about the walk. We love to walk and it will most likely be easier to walk to Kidani to catch the park bus. I can get her on and settled before the second stop.

We're staying at CBR, but have an ADR for dinner one evening at Boma. After our meal, will we be allowed to look at the animals outside? How many animal viewing areas are there, and which is the "best"?

Any other must-see things we should check out while we're here? Lobby, gardens?

Thanks!

....there are several public viewing areas....if you venture out by the pool, go around the left side of it and around the building. There is a specific public viewing spot where you can see the roaming animals through night-vision goggles. Of course, the most obvious place to go is Arusha Rock...
