It seems very werid to me that they "kidnappers" took the time to drug him. I would figure they would just knock him over the head.

Also, seems weird the kidnappers asked for such a low ransom.

Unless the woman's family is wealthy or some other abomination I doubt she was kidnapped. If the police are publicly declaring it a hoax I bet they have a lot more information and I would lean on their side.

My first thought was, it was nice the kidnappers took her 400 miles away right by her mother's house. : )
If that's her house in Vallejo, she isn't doing too badly money wise (or her parents if they give her money). Vallejo is not a cheap place to live. I think it's a scam, at least with the boyfriend.

the whole thing seems off to me. granted the neighborhood she's renting in has had some petty crime issues recently but mare island doesn't have the high crime reputation much of Vallejo carries. $8500 as ransom? and then when it's not paid the kidnappers opt to spend the time and gas money driving her several hundred miles to her hometown and release her? something is off.
