2/25/15 Poly Booking Thread

Okay, I think I totally was able to take advantage of the Poly reservation madness by being able to snag a bunch of standard view rooms today at other resorts. We decided last week to head down to Disney in August. We had limited DVC points available, so with great sticker shock and sadness I booked us a resort hopping trip to try out all the moderate resort pools. It dawned on me this morning that I could rearrange a few of our existing reservations to lower cost rooms/resorts and we could go in August on our DVC points. So I just booked 1 Night OKW, 1 Night AKV Kidani, 1 Night BLT Standard View, 1 Night Poly Standard View, and 1 Night Boardwalk Villa Standard View. We are looking forward to trying out all of the pools at the different resorts. Was so happy not to have to spend $1050+ on hotel rooms! And now, we get to try the Poly too! Poly by the way was for August 6th. I had to call member services and the wait time was minimal at noon, maybe 2 minutes, it was so low I was never even told an estimated wait time.

Wow guess I was really lucky. I live in California and was able to book at 180 for dining at 9pm PST the day before. so I went online at 9Pm on the 24th but no BOG for lunch yet. Set my alarm for 1 am and wow, got all my BOG lunches for the entire two week trip aug 4-18. We love BOG and are eating there 6 times now!!! Then set my alarm for 5:45 am to switch my second week from VGF to Poly. Called right at 6.. It was busy the first two tries then wow again, a live person came right on. He switched my reservation from Grand to Poly and I was off the phone by 6:11!!! All is good. It is still showing availability for a bungalow but don't have enough points. I still can't buy any Poly points because I live in California and they have not been cleared to sell yet...

I forgot about it until mid afternoon. I looked online and saw both Standard and Lake View available for our entire trip 4/5 - 4/12. Bit the bullet on points and called to change reservation from SSR to Poly for Easter. I am really excited. It will probably never be available again at 7 months, so I am willing to take a chance the pool won't be completed.

I just booked a lake view for 4/5 to 4/8. I was exited something was available, changed from AK. Is there a chance the pool won't be ready? I wasn't aware of that.

Tikiman posted the following information today....
I have a news article with info from my visit I will post soon but for today I want to say that I am told that Trader Sam's will open the end of March and the pool area will be done April 1 unless some unforeseen issues come up.

There is a chance, but they are certainly pushing hard to be done on time. Disney does not want thousands of pictures of construction for the opening day.

Good to know. We are big "pool people," but we do enjoy sitting around the pool reading, etc. I have heard wonderful things about their pool

We often do split stays but I think 5 resorts in 5 days would be too much for me. Just a FYI you could hop to OKW and BWV from the other resorts. Enjoy your stay!

Last night I decided to get a Poly studio for our pre DVC Member cruise trip. I checked with DH and he was OK with it. I cancelled a studio at VWL for this stay. It was about 175% of the points compared to VWL, but I got Lake view, Standard view was available, but I am splurging!

We will not buy points there, we will not buy points there....that will be my mantra during the stay!

I totally hear you! We usually spend tons of time in our villa just relaxing. But we usually have a one or two bedroom with tons of luggage. I would dread moving all that luggage. This time we'll be in studios and are only taking carry ons. It will be super hot. We might be miserable getting stuck without a room until 4pm some days. But we could also have a blast. If anything it will be different. It's one of four trips this year, so different is good!

I then decided what the heck, let's see if there is anything available for July 4th weekend. After about a half an hour of frustration I was able to book the bungalows for 7/3-7/5. Wow! Can't wait to see the July 4th fireworks from there! Got that around 11:20 am eastern. Yeah!

Congratulations.
Bungalow for two of the best fireworks shows on property will be awesome. Enjoy!

Most rooms for the night of July 4th are now booked, but MK does a preview of their July 4th fireworks on July 3rd. That night is still available for most room types:dog2:.

I was just at WDW for Spring Break this past weekend (Animal Kingdom Villas stay) and I stopped by the Poly to check it out before we stay there in September. It was really disappointing in the amount of construction that it blocking that whole side of the resort. It's fenced off for all the buildings from where the East pool is all the way over to the sidewalk for the TTC. The beach is closed on the other side of the main pool and the resort doesn't have the great polynesian feel that you normally would have at the resort. You have more of a feel of construction, noise and disarray. For those staying at the beginning of April, I have a feeling that it will be pretty much the same sort of feeling. Anyway, I am hoping that it will be mainly "cleaned up" by the time I stay in September, though we received a letter saying there will be a lot of construction even then through 2016. Here's to hoping it has a better feel :sad2:

It is just starting to sink in that the Polynesian Villas will be open in a week and a day!

We have two nights in a LV studio April 1-2. Hope the pool is done! Then we move to BWV. Just wanted to surprise DH with the Poly; he has no clue!

We just switched to the poly yesterday for our stay starting June 17th. We are staying in a standard view room. We are going to request a room in the Fiji building or one of the others around it. Hope this keeps us away from and remaining construction.

I just received a call from DVC advising me that the Volcano Pool will be closed during my visit, but to make up for it Disney is offering complimentary admission into Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (and free towel rental).

Are you staying in a hotel room or the DVC villas? Fiji is part of the hotel longhouses-only moorea, Pago pago, and Tokelau are going to be DVC studios of those 3 only Tokelau borders the east pool area (and it may not be open yet in June)

We are NOT staying in the DVC section. I'm hoping for a room that looks over the marina.

Sorry wasn't sure (since it was on the DVC board)-Fiji seems like a good location to avoid construction
