Experience with Avis at MCO?

I didn't even sign up for an Avis membership when I started looking but suddenly Avis' rates for Easter week out of MCO are crazy low, so I'm booking a reservation with them.

Any experiences someone can speak to? Looks like they are in the actual airport (good) but their "preferred" membership program appears vague at best - is there a "skip the counter" option involved? Pick your own car off the lot? Etc?

Have read almost solely about National, Alamo and Dollar since started looking so just have no idea how Avis stacks up. Thanks!!!

Its actually only this good through Carrentalsavers.com. Going to Avis' website I don't get the same rates. Is that weird?

I have either full size at 121 all-in or Premium SUV at 203 - being that we are 5 (3 adults) while I was planning on doing full size for price, I think I'm going to do the SUV now! Just a bit curious as to why this same rate is not showing up on Avis' website...

Good for you! I tried this, but didn't get any good deals at all. I am much better off with my $126 for a full size from Dollar that I booked a couple weeks ago. We would have loved an SUV for $203.

Thank you for posting that site, I just knocked $20 off my SUV at Dollar (same place, same car but cheaper). Hoping it will still come down more before July but happy to save every penny I can where ever I can. Thanks!

Didn't work. For some reason, it appears to be alternating through brands showing severly discounted prices but not actually allowing you to complete the reservation. 199 for Budget SUVs today 4/4 - 4/11 from MCO...except that, not really when you try to actually book it.

My first experience with Avis.....I have read all the horror stories about pressuring for insurance you don't need etc. I had never had it happen until Avis. Saved alot of money but definitely not worth it. I'm going back to National/ Emerald aisle. The agent was so condescending and more...yuk....

First experience with Avis would be my last. Got a great deal through a website paid in full the day I booked. When we got to the counter to pick up the car, they wanted an additional $200 safety deposit which the lady said we would get back after the car was returned (I'm still waiting for that $200.00, 2 years later...call to customer service did nothing.) I tried to put the deposit on my credit card, the lady said that I was not allowed to do that since I would not be driving the car. The card on file had to match the person driving the car. Never again.

I have rented from Avis many times; they are fine.

There is no such thing as a "safety" deposit. I'm wondering if you mean a security deposit? You must have rented with a debit card, which I would never recommend using for a car rental.

We rented with Avis in 2013 and had no problems, no pressure for insurance, no security deposit. They're fine.

Safety or security which ever it is, all the same to me. The fact that they wouldn't let me use my credit card because my husband was driving was all a bit crazy for me.

Rented from Avis last month. It was fine, and the car was nice and very low kms. Actually less pressure than the agents at Dollar in December. I think a lot of it depends on the agent you get at any company. I would use them again. The prices were WAY better than I could find at Alamo or National. As much as I like picking my own car, it's not worth hundreds of dollars more.

But it's not the same thing. That's odd about payment method; not accepting your credit card. If I had had that problem, I would have just had my name added as a driver (why couldn't your husband use a credit card with his name on it?)

I couldn't be added because I was 24. I think the age to drive was 25. He didn't have a credit card.
