Question on Tips (the green kind)

My grandmother was a Mousekeeper for many years at the Polynesian. Knowing just how hard she worked daily to keep guests' rooms tidy and to put smiles on their faces by adding a little Disney magic to each room led me to my decision to tip. It isn't expected, but it's a nice gesture.

Some really outstanding tips and thoughts from everyone so far. Thank you for sharing your stories and kind words. I look forward to reading more of them :)

Leaving a tip does not guarantee that you'll get a special surprise (i.e. towel animal). During our last trip, I had the kids decorate special tip envelopes for mousekeeping and left a $5/day tip. I kept the room pretty clean (we weren't there much to make that much of a mess anyway). The tip was always taken and we didn't get anything "special" done in or to our room. That was okay, but I think too many people expect to get something in return for the tip. During our last trip, I saw the women mousekeepers coming in to work early in the morning. They probably put in some long and hot days while we are all out enjoying some of Disney's magic. Despite not getting anything "special" during the last trip, we plan on doing the same thing as the last time...Decorate envelopes for mousekeeping and leave them a tip. :flower:
