What to expect for DL's 60th anniversary in 2015 (Starting May 22)

Ah, good catch! I hope they do something like that when we are there for the actual anniversary in July!

We were going to hit DL that day, but we may have to switch plans to see DCA instead. We'd hate to try to get into DCA Later and be refused at the gate because the park is full... :/

btw, is there an official May Check-in thread?

btw, is there an official May Check-in thread?
The closest thing I've seen is was someone else asking if there was a May thread and some folks have started reporting their trip dates in that thread. The drawback is the OP for that thread didn't want to be the one responsible for maintaining the May thread. So, at this point, it appears that no one has contacted to the mods to ask if they can start/maintain the May check-in thread.

I sure hope she doesn't read these boards... LOL!

I planned it out about a year ago. She started telling me about the anniversary and how she wanted to go back around November of 2013. I called last January and was told I could only book a year in advance, so I put it in the calendar and waited. I know it's a tough room to book. We came last November to Disneyland and stayed 5 nights with the kids and they were booked months in advance. I called on July 17th of 2014 and was able to book the room. At the end of the call the guy told me, "Did you know this was the 60th anniversary date?" That was the plan all along! We'll have to stay in the fairfield the night before (didn't want to roll into that cool room at that rate for only a few hours). I only booked it for a couple days. It's also our anniversary weekend. We're pretty excited. It's going to be a pretty relaxed visit for us as we're really only concerned about the stuff we didn't do in November (small world, new parades, a couple tours, a couple cool restaurants, world of color show, etc). Other than that, we'll probably just walk around and goof off. Now we just have to figure out how we're gonna get out without the kids finding out! Ha!

My guess is intermittently throughout the whole celebration. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out at some point and then have to wait for a re-shipment and for this to happen more than once during the celebration.

Can't wait for this! Going for the week in July for my son's 5th birthday and we are so excited. It's a surprise for the kids but mommy and daddy are SUPER excited!

Gah! I hope they are still doing Light the Night when we go in September! It looks amazing!

Thanks, Figment for pointing me here. All I can say is, ugh. I guess I won't be bringing home a mug or popcorn bucket. This stuff looks so generic- not at all to Disney standards.
I have to agree with ehrawn. I'm not all that impressed either. I think they could have done better.

IF we get to go like planed we want to at least bring home one of the celebration popcorn buckets or mugs. I say if, because there is some extended family stuff going on that may impact us.
Any one have any word on how long things will likely last?
WOC, FW, Paint the night the must see/ do's.

Id love to see the diamonds on castle and CCT but if we had to move our trip back to next year some time, and missed the Diamonds wed be ok. Just hope we wouldn't miss the three new shows.

Sad thing is we wont even know if the extended family stuff going on will impact us for at least a month maybe longer.
Part of me says "Its my family I'm going. I'm sorry for others but I'm not canceling my trip because of unexpected extended family stuff.
Another part says wait.

Any idea what the impact will be on the crowd level the first week in December?
At this point, they have not announced how much new stuff there will be for the holidays. They've mentioned a star on the Matterhorn, but that's about all that I've heard about that is specific to the holidays. So if there is a fair amount of new stuff and depending on when it debuts, it can impact the crowd levels. My general guess is that the 60th probably won't have a huge impact on December crowds, unless they opt to debut something new. I know that's vague, but at this point, we don't really know enough about the holidays and the 60th to know what kind of impacts it will have on a specific time period.

Are you asking about the novelty items or about the celebration itself or the new shows? If it's the new shows, those (I think) will be around for quite a while. Remember...Dreams Come True debuted for the 50th anniversary and it was running through last year. So I think there is a good chance that the new shows that will debut as part of the 60th will be around for several years (if not longer). They have not announced an end date for the Celebration itself, but I think the guessing is for at least one year, maybe through the end of the summer 2016. In terms of the novelty items, it's hard to say if those will be around the entire celebration or only part of the celebration. As I said, my guess is that they'll get in the first wave for the start of the Celebration, then sell out and have to wait to be re-stocked. It's also possible that there will be more than one design during the Celebration.

The designs kind of fit with the "busy" look they've been going with for the last few designs. The holiday mug and bucket were kind of busy too, so perhaps that's the style the current management likes. I like the concepts, but I wish it had been a little more understated. Still, maybe they'll look better in person. I know I'll be picking them up when I go!

With this announcement of a 24 hr party at WDW, does anyone know if it effects the chances of a 24 Hr party at DLR?
