Trying to use DVC points

We are having difficulty booking a full week at one of the better resorts in Disney World. We find 5 or 6 days but cannot find 7. My question is how to approach this. Do we book the 5 days and wait list the other 2 or do we just wait list the week and wait.
Also how confident should we be with a wait list request 7 months ahead of time?

You should post on the DVC boards for advice on DVC reservations if you are booking using points.

Why not consider a split stay
if what you want is booked that solid at the 7 month point I'm assuming your not planing a home resort stay and I wouldn't count on getting the extra day or days
but you also didn't say what resort and what type of room gv are limited to very limited

We were trying to stay on the monorail or at the Wilderness Lodge. Looking for a 2 bedroom and a studio. I never thought it would be this difficult. We have booked at the animal Kingdom for now and have wait listed the 2 bedroom at Bay Lake.

Shorter wait lists are more likely to get filled than longer wait lists.
You can also improve your odds by "stalking the DVC website" (checking daily) and grabbing any of the needed days, then switching to a shorter wait list.

After early December, the fall Food and Wine time (October) is probably the 2nd most popular month for DVC owners. Good luck!

I would suggest you book the 5 days, and waitlist the two days. One and two days will be much more likely to pop up, since people are constantly changing/adjusting/canceling reservations, but for that to exactly overlap with your wait list is a low likelyhood.

That said, you are looking at a very popular time, so it still may not come through - but I would say your best chance is with 2 days. (In fact, I would consider waitlisting as two 1-day wait lists.)

Blt I was able to get a 1 bedroom at the 7 month. But every time a 1 bedroom is booked or a studio is booked a 2 bedroom is taken out of the loop because they are lock offs

If you are willing to do a split stay, just in case, I would book what I could and wait list the other nights. I'd put in two. One for the 6th night, and then one for the 6th and 7th. If the 6th comes in, then adjust to just do the 7th. I have been successful doing things this way. Of course, if you want to try for either BLT or VWL, for those two nights, then you will have to do night 6 and 7 for one as your first WL and then 6 and 7 for the other as your second (since you can only have 2 active wait lists per UY).

I'd book the 5 days. I'd then wait list other 2 days one day at a time. I'd also stalk the website and pick up ANY days that you need that come up.
