DAS: Interesting Update

If you're left you won't see this, but I'll ask anyway...what does being alone have to do with making it harder to wait in lines. It would seem to me that you can either wait in lines or you can't...I'm not clear on why being alone would make it harder.

I am not to OP and can't speak for her. I believe her line of thinking is she could be waiting outside the line and could take care of any medical need that she has and join her party when they were close to the front. The OP was trying to explain that, being alone, that idea was not a possibility. At least that is my understanding.

Whether her idea was a possibility or not was not the issue. You are right, it doesn't have anything to do with requesting the DAS.

I don't know for sure but if she has problems with her kidneys she may need to use the restroom more frequently. If you are in a long line and have no one to save your place you would need to get out of line a lot. Again, I don't know for sure if this is why but my son had kidney problems as a toddler from it.

The thing is that very, very few lines are set up to allow "place saving". So leaving and coming back is not generally an option whether you have others with you or not.

If the OP hasn't left, what do you do when you need to use the restroom while you are in the ride vehicle, on the attraction? I know most aren't that long (just a few minutes) but the safari, ellen, the great movie ride, etc, are rather long. Perhaps whatever coping mechanism that you would use there would help in a queue?

I am not the OP but can answer this one. The OP may not be riding these longer rides. There are many other rides and most are much shorter. Also a long wait time in line followed by ride time would compound the OPs trouble with enjoying the ride.[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]

I believe the OP was at DisneyLAND, not WDW. I don't believe those longer rides are at the California parks, though there may be others. She may or may not be able to do longish rides/attractions, but the combination of long queues plus a long ride is likely absolutely impossible.

Disneyland has more outdoor queues and overflow lines outside of the queue area where it's possible to line save, sort of. They don't like it much but it's doable.

Like for example, Matterhorn. When it's up, it only has a small queue area so the line often goes around the mountain. On a hot day, line saving is more common so people can switch in and out to cool off or do drink/snack runs. A lot of people doing bathroom runs too. I remember doing a bunch when I was younger. No need for this at WDW with queues being mostly indoors and air conditioned. In CA it's harder to do this since the waiting areas are better designed but there are queues like this almost everywhere in DLR.

I really don't need continued contact from you, especially of a thread that has nothing to do with me. I said to the CM "IS my disability allowed?" and she said "Absolutely."

I'm not making it up. I'm not lying. And I know what I heard.

Please stop accusing me of something you're projecting. Do not contact me privately, please.

I'm leaving the boards due to this harrassment.
Asking, "Is my disability allowed?" when the DAS isn't disability-based and getting an affirmative response is confusing and misleading.

Ooh! Ooh! I know this one! <ahem> We solo travelers have nobody to hold our place in a queue if the sudden (and frequent) need arises to use the facilities. That can sometimes result in never riding anything - you get in line, get almost to the front, and have to "go". No travel companions to wait at that spot until you get back (having enlisted the help of a CM to edit and return), so you have to start again at the end. Lather, rinse, repeat.
