DIS Unplugged Show Feedback and Suggestions

I haven't listened to the show in years, but when I did, one of the things that frustrated me was that the feed I used included both the WDW & DL shows. This was there was only the "regular" show and the DisneyLand show. I didn't care about DisneyLand, and only listened to the "regular" show.

So, if you haven't done it already now that there are like 3 or 4 shows, if you could have feeds for specific shows, that might help some people.

Yeah you have been around for awhile. The ability to subscribe to the individual shows has been around for quite some time. You can subscribe to the Disunplugged Orlando show, the Disunplugged DL show, The Trip and the Universal shows all individually. Only the ones you want to listen to will appear in your subscriptions. I only listen in the car during my commute using ITunes and this is how it works for me. Not sure how it works using the other applications.

I'll add my thoughts. I've been listening to the podcast since 2008 and I love the show, but agree it's lost "something" since going to video. Can't quite put my finger on it, although I think it's been improving a feels a little more like the "old days" lately. As someone who only listens and doesn't have time to watch, I do feel a little left out.

I love the dining reviews (and reviews in general) and I miss the Ladies Only Show and the Disboards show you used to do a few years ago. I wish that when the top 10 threads are mentioned, some of them were talked about more. I think that would spark some good discussion.

Love everything you all do.

My suggestion would be geared toward the listeners that are also runners. It was good to listen to Kathy completing her 5K. Congrats!!! About 2 years ago there was an episode with a listener and the Marathon weekend.

It would be interesting to see an episode about all of the running trails official or not that can be used at each resort. I get up there a lot since I am only 2 1/2 hours to the south. The one I loved jogging around is Fort Wilderness. Looping all of the campsites is nice. I have not gone from the Fort to the Lodge yet. Some of the resorts I would have not thought about running around them but have read some posts about those that do.

Another idea lol if you would like more views on the YouTube page why not say what the main discussion of the week is? By jut labeling it news it doesn't get the hits that perhaps it deserves for instance grab Johns top news story for the week and label it perhaps : The Dis Unplugged 4/4/2015: Removal of the Sorercers Hat.

That to me at least will gafter more hits on YouTube and introduce the DIS to new people!

My husband doesn't QUITE get the obsession that I have with Disney World. So, I was thinking that a fun show might be why we love Disney the way we do! I need something to help me convince him that we need to go every year...not every other year (our compromise!). :)

Rather than "why we love Disney" I would say, "How to convince the non-Disney fan". We recently had a good discussion about this on another forum (non-Disney forum) that I participate in. We talked about finding the types of things that person likes and seeking those out at Disney since Disney offers a lot more than just "kiddie rides". There is fine dining, outdoor activities, boating, golf, horseback riding, shopping, etc.

Ouch.

Kind of a newer listener/viewer as well, but love the show and the content overall. Everyone on the show delivers varying perspectives, which keeps things interesting.

As far as content suggestions, I second SunDial's post:

The Half Marathon in January was my first runDisney race and it was the most well-organized race I've run in yet. I will definitely be back down to do a race, thinking of planning for the 2016 Wine & Dine half. It would be great to have segment shows on each race with testimonial from people who ran in each race. Would love to hear about the Disneyland races as well, possibly someone who completed the Coast-to-Coast challenge too.

Also would love to hear about the running trails! I'll be back down in April near the end of my training for a 10-miler in May, so will need a good trail for a long-run (sounds like the Boardwalk area is the best option).

As another topic, would love to see a show on living in Orlando in general. I've considered re-locating to Florida, but would love to hear from the 20-30-somethings on the show what the social scene/lifestyle is like vs. where you used to live (I live in Manhattan, so I know it would be huge change).

Finally, would be cool to have more guests, maybe from other popular Disney blogs (Disney Food Blog, Disney Cruise Line Blog, etc).

Those are my two cents. Keep up the great work!

For what it's worth, Tom, I didn't think I was that interested in Disneyland either (since I am on the East coast)...BUT after having listened to the DLR edition for the last year, I am now planning a trip! Mary Jo's "Day 6" to Sequoia report was the podcast that pushed me over the edge! So... Sequoia National Park and Disneyland, here we come!

Many thanks to your team!

I agree with those that said what is missing is the perspective of the once-a-year or every other year guest (a category which I would guess a significant number of DU clients fall under). I would also say the "once in a lifetime" guests, but I'm guessing that those people do not make up a large portion of your viewers/listeners anyway.

I guess what it boils down to is this question... what does the team ultimately want the show to be? Is it intended to be a mostly informational, WDW trip-planning resource? Or is it supposed to just touch on some new developments but mostly be a discussion of Orlando life, Disney days gone by, etc.? Often, it seems to be somewhere in between and it's "neither fish nor fowl".

As a new listener who LOVES listening to and watching podcasts, here are my thoughts:

Things that need improvement:

1. The roundtable format is a bit...rigid. The most interesting podcasts that make me keep coming back are the ones that have a looser, unscripted format, because then it is more like a talkshow ...

... Suggestions: ...

4. One podcast I watch is really cool because they incorporate fake commercials sent in by viewers ... can you imagine a listener dressed as Elsa costume trying to teach you the proper way to clean your bathroom using nothing but pixie dust in a pinch...it's a good thing!? ...

... 8. A compliments and complaints segment - Kevin can do the complaints and Theresa can do the compliments ...

... Keep up the good work!

This! After listening to last week's episodes, I think the team has loosened up a bit which is great! And the idea of having listeners come up with funny additions to the show is hysterical! I can imagine that this idea will not work out but it would add some serious laughs :)

Also, I echo a previous poster who asked that people not talk over each other. I know this can happen when people get excited about a topic and, in that instance, I'm all for the excitement of it! But when a person continues to talk over someone else to get her or his point across in an obvious power play - that's totally awkward.

Maybe about how to make a list of attractions/things we want to do. There are several things I want to do, but don't know if I can find the time.

I've been listening to older episodes of The DISunplugged and there are many things that still exist that I wasn't aware of. I want to get over to Whispering Canyons, as well as check out different spa's in the deluxe resorts.

What should we check off first? Last?

Thank you!

How about doing a segment on volunteering at Give Kids the World Village? A lot of DISers (my family included) have done this. There is a lot of talk on the show about raising money for GKTW. I think it would be great to spend some time talking about where all of that money goes. If any of the team has been there, they could talk about their experiences. If not, maybe you could solicit emails and voicemails from those of us who have done it.

You are going to LOVE both Disneyland and Sequoia! I happen to love Tom's show although he won't humor me by doing a video show with him wearing pajamas and an Olaf hat.

Besides a stupid hat, what would you want to see on a video show? What are you missing by us being audio only?

Honestly, there is something about seeing someone's facial expressions that really engages me as a viewer. I love the YouTube videos you host in the Disneyland Parks and I think you're great on camera! I do love listening to the shows - the two recent ones that really stand out in my mind are the Sequoia segment and the review of the BWPPI&MS. My schedule prevents me from listening live but I always catch it recorded. Keep up the great work - because Disneyland really is more magical when it's shared!

Thanks for making me smile. :flower:
