I've only done lunch at BoG and love the ambience, is it worth it going for dinner? I'm not sure I really care about the fancy menu. Tell me about your experiences and suggestions.

PS: Is the grey stuff worth it?

I was so excited to try bog, and I was a bit disappointed. The food was decent, but I think that there is much better food at other restaurants. We far preferred the lunch to the dinner. I'm not saying the food was bad, just that it wasn't anything special.

'Worth it' is very subjective. I thought it was very different from lunch, the atmosphere was great, and it was the best TS meal we had in December (and we had eaten at Artist Point the night before). I had the shrimp & scallops in puff pastry, DH had chicken. The Grey Stuff was delicious. It may not be worth it to you, unfortunately only you can decide that!

I thought so.
But everyone's tastes are so different that some think it to be a wonderful meal while others think it to be quite bad.

If you have enjoyed the Master's cupcake, you have tried the gray stuff.

It has been over a year since we had dinner. I am sorry to say I do not recall my entree--because it was over a year ago. I did have the French Onion soup. I found the broth and onions good. I would have appreciated the crouton to be not completely water logged. I think that could held together long enough to reach the table. My mom makes her version from scratch including the large crouton from baguette. And we get our soup immediately with her. But it was an acceptable version BOG had.

I enjoyed being able to enjoy a glass of wine with my meal.

I feel, it is worth it to give it a go and try it for yourself. Only you can decide if the experience and food were enjoyable.

Worth it is very subjective. We enjoyed dinner much more than we expected, I had the steak and DH had the salmon. We thought it was better than lunch and plan to return on our trip this fall.

We have not tried the grey stuff served at dinner, but we have had the master's cupcake at lunch. It was good but not great.

I think so. We'll be doing both lunch and dinner again this trip because we really enjoyed it. The ambiance is a bit different at dinner and we really enjoyed our meals. And then of course pictures with the beast is just priceless for our boys.

I did the lunch and will do it again just for the ambience. The lunch was good, nothing to rave about. I didn't care for the cupcake dessert...it was just ordinary. I'm not planning on doing dinner there. But I would definitely do lunch again. I had the roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce, it was very good. And...it is such a beautiful place...I just love it for that reason.

We just did the dinner in February. We have done the lunch several times and think for lunch it was good and a decent amount of food. I did not feel that way about dinner. My meal was delicious but extremely small - I could have had a second one. It was the Layered Ratatouille - you would think that would be an inexpensive meal that they could make bigger. The shrimp in the puff pastry was also good but not enough for my DH. We were both hungry after. The rest of our family had the pork and or the steak - they had more food than us - So is it worth it is up to you. We are glad that we did it - we loved meeting the beast but it is off our list - there are too many other better options to go to for dinner.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of dinner when my sister and I tried BOG. We had been for lunch and thought it was good. Looking at the dinner menu, we didn't have high expectations. Everything surpassed our expectations (they were not high, I'll admit). I would definitely get the steak and frites again, plus the french onion soup was fantastic. Because the soup is vegetarian, it is the soup by which I judge all others. I can tell when they skimp and use beef broth rather than doing it the real way.

We've done both and I absolutely prefer dinner to lunch. I mean, lunch was fine, but it was so crowded and hectic, and I didn't love what I ordered (croque monsieur...I would order steak sandwich next time, or the pork). Dinner was quiet and subdued, we had an amazing server (her name was April), and our food was perfect. We sat in the West Wing both times.

We are booked for both again for this upcoming trip, not sure yet if we're going to keep both or drop one.

The food was above average... I liked the variety of kids options (not just chicken nuggets and hot dogs). I wasn't crazy about "the grey stuff" cupcake...it just tasted like creamy sugar - i couldn't finish it because it got too rich. I wish I had gone for the strawberry cupcake as others have raved about it. My husband liked the onion soup but was not so crazy about his tuna nicoise salad. I liked my pork dish but it was so fatty.... I had issue with the fact that it was SOOOO dark (on a 79degree sunny day) and the ballroom is so huge and echoey....it felt like eating in the hospital cafeteria....tables were inches apart and servers with 'incubator-like' carts whizzing in and out between the rows. It was super nice to experience but i wouldn't be upset if i didn't have to eat there again.

DH and I had dinner at BOG in November. He had the lamb, which he absolutely raved about, and I had the shrimp and scallops in puff pastry, which was just okay. DH had the garden salad with champagne vinaigrette and I had the seasonal salad trio, which I really enjoyed but was enough for two people. DH loved it so much we are eating there again in April! This time I will have the lamb! lol

I promise the menu is not as fancy in real life as it sounds on the internet. I was worried about that as well. I'm very, very picky, but I ate all of my steak.

And yes, the grey stuff IS delicious and 100% worth the hype ;)

i dont think the grey stuff is worth it IMHO but i know others (none of my friends) who think its awesome. the steak is AMAZING, but we really arent that impressed with the place, we have been there 3 times now and will be going somewhere else for dinner this year.

i was lucky enough to get a reservation, and honestly it was a great meal, and made the trip even more fun. would i go back every trip probably not, but i can definitely see myself going back again!
the food was good, loved where i got seated the ballroom by the christmas tree, and literally against the huge windows with snow night time view.

it depends like everyone say only you know if its worth it to you! for me I'm glad we went

I have done lunch twice now and really enjoyed it, but it is super busy and hectic sometimes! I am really looking forward to our ADR for dinner in May..I just think the atmosphere will be more laid back and relaxing and I can't wait to have a glass of wine with dinner. Thanks for all the great posts here....I am really excited now about our dinner.

I had lunch and dinner there and enjoyed both experiences. Sitting in the rose gallery (for lunch) is a lot more quiet and not as hectic and loud as the main ballroom. The master's cupcake- with the grey stuff on top- was amazing! The dinner version of it, you get more grey stuff, but the cookie thing that comes with it is dry and hard- except for the middle. I had steak for dinner and loved it. I rarely eat steak, but i finished my whole plate. My mom had the braised pork and loved it. I tried some of her pureed cauliflower and it was amazing!

I was a little worried about the food at dinner too, but after reading and looking at some dinning reviews on the Disney Food Blog, i was convinced.

We've done both lunch and dinner numerous times and have enjoyed all our meals. As others have said, everyone is not alike and what one person likes another won't. I wouldn't call the dinner "fancy" though, just regular food. I really like that you can have a glass of wine with dinner. The atmosphere is so beautiful (IMHO). Again, it's not for everyone just as anything else in life. If lunch is enough for you then go somewhere else for dinner. There are so many good places in Disney!!

Enjoy The Magic!!

We did dinner there and I got the assorted meat appetizer as my meal and was thoroughly pleased. The display is great, and it comes with a baguette. I couldn't finish it (almost could lol), and with the exception of 1 or two things on there, which just weren't my kind of items, it was all great. Then again, it would be hard to mess up that kind of thing. I also had the potato leek soup as a starter (which is also available lunch time), and was a huge fan of that.
