Snow pics for you happy campers

I was just going to ask when your trip was. Maybe I missed the siggy earlier.

I'll be curious to know how things come along so keep us posted!

Hopefully some will melt. How about getting a ton of salt brought in......?

I grew up in the northeast corner of Ohio and I don't miss pictures like that. :cold: We walked to school in the snow uphill both ways....<blah blah blah> The Rusty Scupper plowed a path in the snow and I followed his footprints...

The weather systems would pick up moisture from Lake Erie as they moved across and would blow over land and dump deep snow on that corner of the Buckeye State. A 30-mile north/south line might see a difference of 18-24 inches of snow. While I love my family that's still there, I'll visit them in June... :rockband:

I traded that for dodging frequent tornados, a occasional hurricane, and hot, humid summer weather. Oh, and the best college football in the land is in my backyard.

Bama Ed :rolleyes1

Just an update for you folks up North in the tundra:

I had to get out and cut the grass today...
In shorts and flipflops...

Will send the warmer temps your way!

Thanks for that. All our snow has been gone few a couple of weeks. It has pretty consistently been in the 50's here. We get a day or two in the 60's or even 70's. March is funny like that.
Problem now is the ground is too wet to do much. I need to get the Christmas lights down since there aren't frozen to the house anymore, but the ladder sinks into the ground too far to be stable.

If you want to come up in a few weeks and cut my grass, 2nd week of April should just about do it. :)

Just as we were starting to see some grass in some areas of the yard, hit with another couple inches yesterday. I can no longer deal. :crazy2::oops:o_O The only thing getting me thru this horrible winter is coming on here, reading all the posts and viewing all the pics, and dreaming of our trip down to FW mid April! :car::flower:

Of course... (sneeze). The pollen is now starting to fly.. (blowing nose).

I hear you....the deck was all clear and the camper was completely snow free (until the first day of Spring came along and dumped 5-6 inches :faint:). On the plus side, melting is going well this afternoon....

From the frozen tundra group, after experiencing a warmer week, and all the way up to 52 today, yeppers, should expect 4 inches of snow here in southern part of God's Country, Wisconsin, Sunday into Monday! Well, we can cheer on those Badgers to the final four while waiting for this next round to melt. Keep reminding all of us northerners that it will be spring, then summer, then fall, and Finally, Fort Wilderness.

Tiggerdad, I have grown to HATE the smell of the Bradford pear tree blooms because I associate it with my Claritin-D dependency for several weeks. :crazy2:

PS - we did have some sunny, beautiful 80+ days this week....

What is this grass stuff you speak of ?? I still have a good foot of SNOW on the ground here after a week and half of warm weather, and a couple inches of rain. The lake is still frozen with at least 18 inches of ice on it. Saw 4 beautiful deer in our backyard last night though, pawing through the snow looking for field grass to eat. Today the sun is out but alas it is only at freezing here.

PAHunter,
It's a strange feeling green stuff that actually comes out of the ground! Much like that terrible white stuff you claim falls from the sky. There are different types, thousands really. Some grow faster and taller than others and we have to use these "motorized" trimmers to keep it short enough to walk over.

Ed,
I dug up my Bradford Pears 3 years ago to give me the room I needed to get my camper in the driveway. I know what you mean about seeing their blooms, it was sure indicator that problems were on the way. I start my Zyrtec as soon as I see them. Bad thing is I am surrounded by pine trees, they are the worst when it comes to pollen production. I won't wash the vehicles for at least another month or so.

Photography clubs and groups are great for socializing but independent study is what makes ones work stand out from all the other fish :) Main stream groups never were my thing either and I'm always happy to talk photography.
Well were all glad you have photography skills, and if you wanna keep taking Fort pics you can just share them with us, we'll be very grateful.

Is this ready to cut yet ???

There is a foot of space between the bottom rail and the ground. Still have a ways to go.

looks like I can leave the mower in storage for another few weeks. On the bright side looks like I can finally put the snowblower into storage and give the motorcycle and car good cleaning. Still calling for cold over the next few weeks, so spring has not gotten here yet.

My black truck turned green overnight...

Open another bottle of Zyrtec

Hey PA, at least you're saving on gas for the mower and snowblower.

Nice to be able to wait that long to start cutting...

My final cut last year was 1st week of December. First cut this year was Mid February!
It is already in the "once a week if not sooner" mode!

The FUN of living on the North shore of Lake Pontchatrain.

(We will be staying the week before Memorial Day at Meaher State Park, have relatives in Bay Minette. Should be fun.)

Everyone should be able to enjoy HOT weather and alligators in the back yard! :)

Looking good man! I see some green trying to push it's way through
