Fantasmic! Viewing Area Locations

Does anyone have photos or videos from the various sections? Having never been to disneyland it's hard for me to tell what the view will actually be and if I should get one of the dining packages or a FP.

I'll tell you this, from what I could tell when we were there last Friday, the dining packages had a MUCH better view than the regular fast passes. Dining packages were the only ones right on the water and directly across from Tom Sawyer Island. They were a bit mixed up from the colored keys that Figment has been providing here, though.

starjazz, can you provide more information about the various viewing locations, or at least, the viewing area you were in?

This whole thread has me in a non-literal panic. I really miss the old days of just camping out for a good spot. I have nothing productive to add, but seriously, I don't understand why it has to cost an extra arm and leg to get a decent spot for the show.

I got very decent seating with just a regular FP, so not all hope is lost! I wouldn't worry about it too much - by reading the advice here you are already ahead of the game, even if you go for a regular FP. If you go one night with the FP and aren't satisfied, you can always make reservations for a dining package for the next night. Though to be honest, while some have complained about the new system in theory and others complained in the beginning of CMs that weren't entirely knowledgeable, we haven't really had any complaints from people who actually went and saw the show with a regular FP and were really disappointed. In fact we haven't really seen much feedback at all from those folks who used regular FP, unless like me they came to write positive things about it, so "no news is good news," as they say! I think that if the new system was really crappy we would have heard about it.

Figment, the RBT dining package, which is what we had, was seated just to the left of center if you are standing looking at Tom Sawyer island. that section was probably 30 feet deep and 80 feet wide. That is just a ballpark estimate. There are three large water sprays during the show. The center of our section was directly between the center water spray and the left water spray when looking at the stage. To our right was the Blue Bayou dining package. So the center of that section is dead center on the middle, or central, water spray. beyond the blue by you seating area was the other dining package. Behind all of the dining packages was about a 10 foot wide walking path that is roped off. and behind that is where the regular fastpasses fill in. The fast passes are also allowed to fill in to the left and right of the three dining packages. when we were wrongly located in the yellow Fastpass section, we were actually standing at the famous light tower trick area. Hope that helps.

Interesting...I wonder if some of the changes in the location of the RBT dining package is because Hungry Bear is closed so there are no Dessert packages at this point.

I think that might be likely...and I do recall being over by pirates lair and having RBT seated the the brown dessert area that occasionally will be blue FP if there aren't a lot of dining packages sold... I fell like the second map you posted is as close as you can get currently. Just know that the center seated areas can be changed depending on dinning demand for the night.

I just tried to book the HB dessert package and the CM said they were not doing that package anymore. "Not enough participation". :-(

I can offer a few more changes...the lower yellow area by the anchor/control is no longer yellow. On Monday it was empty until 5 minutes before show time when a few groups were let it. I asked later and supposedly it's not gs recovery, as as the other side of the control booth.

They have also created a small standby area by Royal street veranda...and back by HM side of french market...both with terrible views...

How nutty that they would already eliminate HB dessert option as it was only operational a short time before HB went down for refurb of Crit Country. That had seemed like a good option for those who wanted reserved area but not a full commitment to a meal to get it. I will be very interested to read reports on how all this is playing out through the spring so I can figure out what to do when my family takes our annual visit in July.

I second this when we went in jan we sat to the left of BB we ate at river bell, we had an ecv and sat up against the rope in the back. For the first time the ecv could actually see the show and there where not rocks or trees in front of them. And everyone seating was loosely seated in the area not jam backed, so everyone seems to have a great view even if not right in the front row. This seemed to be true with all the packaged seating area, a lot of room to spread out, put legs out straight and relax. Have no clue about hungry bear because we did not see any empty spots, and I am concerned that when hungry bear does open, they squish people in real tight and it may not be the same at all. We specially for ecv, the nice part was we had room and was able to move a little, and the family was in front not behind standing so we were able to talk and have conversations, unlike the old w/c spot near the boat launch.

We have a RB! For april let you all know how it goes.

How much of the yellow section can you sit down in vs having to stand?

Back in December, on a fairly crowded day, sitting was allowed in the first 15-20 feet from the water's edge (I would say about 10 "rows" of people). This may have changed so don't be too disappointed if they are no longer allowing this.

I have a headache reading all of this......
We didn't even try to see Fantasmic! when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

If the color coding / sections settle down by our next trip I might consider getting a FP for the show.

I really hope they come up with seating other than on the ground.
I'm a little too old to sit on the ground for any period of time. Getting up after the show, would be a show in it's self.

Thank you everyone for helping figment_jii get a handle on section location and color coding for Fantasmic!
Specifics like this can really enhance a trip and take a little of the chaos out when you plan to see Fantasmic!

The only people we saw sitting a few weeks ago were the people in the dining packages. All FPs were standing. It wasn't total sardine can standing, but standing never the less. And this was "low season".

If I was gonna go FP, I'd hope for a yellow and snag the old light tower trick spot.

Why would they do this? Take the worst aspect of WoC (standing only) and bring it to Fantasmic? How do they expect kids to see the show?

Does anyone know if there is any seating for kids with disabilities? My daughter is not in a wheelchair but cannot stand for too long due to a spine defect.
