Packing list for infant

So I am used to packing for our family of four with older kids, but we are now a family of five with an infant!!

Our son will be 3.5 months old on our trip in April.

Please tell me what your packing list would look like, I don't want to forget anything and I'm looking for stuff I might not have thought of.

Thanks!!

Oh, and we are flying, staying at CR and bringing our own stroller (a City Mini).

I'd send diapers, wipes, and formula (if used) to the resort ahead of time to save on packing space and luggage weight. Packing list would include clothes, pacifiers (if used), diaper rash cream, a couple of small toys, blankets, baby wash and lotion, nail clippers.

We were debating ordering diapers and stuff but then were thinking that we would pack the stuff and then that's our souvenir bag coming home, because the stuff is going to be used/gone by end of trip.

For the four of us, we usually only check 1 bag, even though we are allowed 4. I've gotten really good at packing, but our girls clothes are always in their suitcases which we carry on. I am hoping to keep checked luggage to 2 large bags...

At that age, you shouldn't need to pack too much extra stuff. The baby won't be old enough to pull his socks off and lose them, and he probably won't be able to hold toys either.

Make sure you have a nursing cover if you use one. A light blanket is nice to have with you. Lots of burp cloths are good.

Ask your doctor about sun screen. I don't like it on babies and rely on the big shade on my City Mini and staying out of the sun.

We took #5 when he was 4 months old. Now we're planning a trip this fall when #6 should be about the same age (still 31 weeks pregnant, so we don't know for sure). Obviously, it worked out well or we wouldn't be planning to do it again.

I have a bebe au lait nursing cover and will practice doing it in the wrap.

I don't think sunscreen can be used until 6 months but I'll ask at his 8 week appt next week.

We do have the big shade on the city mini though.

If he takes a paci, bring extras. Also, plan on about 3 outfits a day. (blowouts, etc) If you are there a week it'll be about 21 pieces of clothing. Are you renting a pack n play? Have some Clorox wipes to wipe down the crib and bring some sheets/blankets from home.

If you are nursing and/or pumping, bring extra supplies. (bottles, baggies, etc) To bring it home, have a small insulated soft sided cooler to carry on board.

A rain cover! City Mini makes this nice one. http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-Rain-Canopy/dp/B00388X2XS

I always brought more diapers than I thought I would need and we used all by 2 of them I think.

I will add more if I can think of more.

Are you flying? If so, make sure you pack at least 2 extra outfits for the baby and one for you, plus 1 diaper per hour of flight. This may sound like a lot but it will save you if there's delays. I can tell you by experience that diapers are hard to find in airports. Pack a lot of easy outfits in ziploc bags for the trip (the bags are great for throwing the dirty one on), specially if you are not planning on doing laundry. I did ship wipes/diapers and other baby things to Disney when DS was still little (although not an infant). Remember that an infant goes through ~10 diapers a day. It makes sense to have the space on the way back, but you may have to consider the weight if you are flying, wipes and that many diapers are heavier than clothes. Don't forget desitin, baby shampoo, cortisone cream and baby tylenol. If you have one, a foldable sink tub is a great thing to bring and doesn't take much space (like a Puj tub). Another must for baby travel for me are the munchkin diaper bag dispensers, sanitizing wipes and lots of hand sanitizer. Make sure you have nice change pad on your diaper bag.

If you are nursing make sure you practice doing so with your cover or carrier in public places, but remember the baby centers always have a breastfeeding area, which is a nice place to take a break anyway. Make sure you have lots of snacks for you and a good water bottle, you are making the baby's food after all.

Bring a waterproof pad for whatever the baby will be sleeping on, plus a couple extra ones you can place anywhere, like the stroller/car seat. A blowout on the stroller when out and about is not fun but easy to deal with if all you have to do it take the pad away.

I thought that the stroller seat could not be used until the baby is 6 months, are you using your citi mini with a car seat? At that age I used the bassinet (if you have one). It is a little inconvenient to carry around (mine folds flat at least), but it really pays off to have a place for the baby to sleep anywhere that he is already used to, plus you don't need to borrow a pack and play. Have fun!

The city mini lays flat and is fine for use with young infants. :)

But good point about blowout ON the stroller!

A thermometer. Worst thing ever is wondering if your little baby is sick. Bring one, and you most likely won't need it, but should you need it, you will already be stressed enough, looking for a thermometer will be one less thing to worry about.

We used the City Mini starting at about 3 months. It lays pretty flat and we liked it better than our Snap 'n Go.
We had disposable bibs, disposable pads that you could lay on the changing table when we were out, and disposable plastic mats that went on the table so he could eat off the table which were all great. The pads to change on were especially helpful so I didn't have to worry about getting our regular changing pad dirty on day 1 and having to figure out how to clean it since we weren't planning on doing laundry!
Another random thing, we brought our own sheet for the pack n play. I wanted to know that it was washed in the soap he's used to.

Good one! I'll add infant tylenol to this...our son (1 at the time) got a fever in the middle of the night while on a Disney cruise...all the shops were closed and I had forgot to pack it:(

I didn't read all the replies, but a good carrier is a must. Something not too hot. My son preferred to be worn to riding in the stroller most of the time. My trip report from that trip is in my signature. He was abt 2 1/2 months old at the time.
