Hi everybody !

With Dh we have made several trips to the world but always two of us. It will be our first time as a mama and daddy

I have already read all post with advices and I thank you ll for that.
However, I have one more question :

My son usully go to bed at 7:30 pm for the night and wkes up at 6 am. I cannot imagine goint to bed so early:p
So what you do parents at eventing when the baby is sleeping ? I was thinking spending time in the balcony, but as we go for 14 nights (we live overseas), I am afraid to be very boring of balconies at the end of our stay...

Any advice or testimonies ?

Many thanks

We always kept to our kid's routines at wdw. With twins, it was necessary for our sanity. We did always have a separate bedroom to retire to so our evenings were no different than at home. If you are all in one room, perhaps the pack n play could go in the entrance hall way of the room or in the washroom, if large enough. The value resorts, art of animation and all star music both have family suites at a reasonable cost.

After DS fell asleep, we were able to have the TV on with no problem or we played on the ipad. Most of the time we were so tired that we'd go to bed early too!

Honestly, with 14 days, a major time change and different environment, I would not worry about putting him to bed at 7:30. He is going to be terribly off schedule anyway so I would try extending your days with him. Put him in the stroller and head back out to a park or DTD and just see how it goes. He might fall asleep in the stroller or be alert and happy. If it becomes obvious he is over tired and grumpy, then you can resort back to the plan of having him in bed at the resort early. Many years ago with oldest DS that is just what I did. With our little guy now eight, we were in a much different place in our lives when he was a baby and he never got that strict schedule. We just took him along and he adjusted nicely.

Our 1 year old has always responded very badly to changes in his bed time schedule - has always need to go to bed between 7-730. We had no problem keeping him on the same schedule in Disney. We had him in a separate bedroom, however.

Work on baby number two?

When we took our boys at young ages we always just did whatever it was we wanted in the evenings and if they were up and happy they participated (almost always) or if they fell asleep in their strollers we just kept on. With being their that many nights, I would defintely plan on trying to catch some of the nighttime entertainment - fireworks etc and maybe a night at DD. If you try it a time or two and realize it's not working for you could always go back to the room. Just can't imagine calling it an early night every night for 2 weeks.

We took DS for a long trip overseas right before his first bday. He used to go to bed 7:30-8 and we were in a country where dinner was not served until 9 pm! We took a good napping stroller, I would do all the evening routine put his pajamas on and go for a walk on the stroller, completely reclined with his blanket/binkie and with a cover to block all light. Once he fell asleep we will roll into a restaurant and have a great adult dinner or some drinks and tapas. When we got back I will just transfer him quietly to his pack and play. If you can swing it and your baby sleeps well on a stroller, stay in a resort with nice grounds and a table service restaurant and you can go for a nice evening walk and meal/glass of wine. Having a separate sleeping space is also nice, we always do when we are on vacation. It all depends what your budget and priorities are.

My husband and I are taking our 1 year old son (but just for 3 nights) and were thinking the same thing. He is always in bed by 7:30. We figured we'd spend time on the balcony, and maybe take turns going out alone if the parks were open late and we were awake enough. We are staying at BWV so it would be easy for us to each take a night to stroll over to EPCOT to watch Illuminations. When it's my night to stay in the room (on the balcony!) I'll be relaxing with a book and a glass of wine :-)

We are in the same boat, 1st time going with a 1 yr old.... right now, my daughter gets extremely fussy around 630 and needs to get to bed.... I cant imagine Disney will be any different, if not worse with all the sensory overload. We have a studio at the VGF and will most likely take turns staying home while the other goes out or spend time on the balcony.

:thumbsup2 This sounds just like what DH and I did when our boys were young.

We always let them fall asleep in the stroller. If bedtime is 7:30 you would be leaving the parks at 6 to get back and get ready. We made 4 trips before my DS was 1 and it was some of the best evenings ever. DS would fall asleep and we would wander, have snacks, catch some entertainment, take turns on some rides. Especially in hot weather the nights are the best times to be in the park, cooler temps and shorter waits.

This isn't a one size fits all type of situation. Some kids are fine with falling asleep in the stroller while walking around an amusement park and transitioning to bed, and some aren't. My daughter would have been fine, but my son definitely isn't. We learned the hard way. So we kept his schedule in Disney and it was fine. No way is better than another.

So true. We have twins. Their first trip was at three and a half months with close to twenty trips in the next five years. We stick to bedtimes. Having two surly children is not a fun time but I get that some kids don't mind sleeping in the stroller. Our twins are five now, Dd is 11 and we are just now seeing evening entertainment. Even then it's only the electrical parade when it runs at 7pm. We also managed a few hours at the halloween party last October.
