The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

There are so many things to consider when planning anything. On a scale of 1-10, cooking dinner, for example, is about a 1.
Ummm... not in this house. I guess the actual importance is a 1 but the stress that goes along with it is a 10.

A) stand between me and my DoleWhip
Now I remember why I like you so much! :goodvibes

B) don't cry with me when we're watching MSEP
What about when watching Wishes? :scratchin

11) And BEST OF ALL DISMEET planning! We already have people onboard for WDW or BUST (phew, almost mistyped that- close call), Oct, 2016! Be there or be square. ;)
Now the talk tonight was about heading to DL next summer again. There is close to a 0% chance we will be in WDW 10/16. :(

I HAVE NOW PURCHASED TICKET #3!!!
:dancer:

I will be eligible after this year, June 10th to be exact, to take the LP NCLEX, which will make me able to work at that level of nursing. I am fairly certain that the company my daughter (MKBekka) works for as an LPN will hire me for a few nights a week as a temporary employee. I could make enough to cover a term or two of school, and well, what I would have used to put towards school could then go towards the trip. Fuzzy Disney math in action, right there. Odd how it spills over and becomes Fuzzy Family Finances.
Gotta love being a DISer! :rotfl2:

Enjoying my 88% on Exam 4!!! I'll take it!
Whoo Hoo! that's nice!!!

Ok, you did it. You opened a can of worms, and it's my turn to lament. The Old Gang has really all but disappeared (Kat, Jordy, etc...) I REALLY, really miss the teasing and silliness SO much. There are still quite a few around here to keep me company, but the chatter seems to be mostly gone. I do realize you get out of a thread what you put into it, and (for good reason) I can't be here to build my community and banter as much as you KNOW I do; until then, I try to keep my little thread alive until Summer. I have made some very dear friends here and even get to see them occasionally, which fills my heart with joy, but I suppose FB has filled a place that DISsing once had. I guess? Anyway, yes, I do miss the old "feel" of the DISFamily a LOT. When I came back, I immediately felt it/saw it/ etc...I know I am busier for sure, but it is very temporary and going by VERY quickly- at least for me. I will be back; be certain of that!
I understand what you are saying. Reading and responding to your PTRs/TRs were a whole lot of fun. There were times people went off on tangents and it took up 3, 4, or 5 pages. :rotfl:

I'm not on as much because:
a) Now having 3! kids they keep me very busy
b) I've tried to limit my DIS time because I was spending waaay too much time on here
c) FB has allowed me to stay connected with people
d) FB is easier to pop in and out of if I have a free minute or 2
e) I've tried to stay off the DIS & the computer in general when Melody is off from work in order to have a 'real' relationship with the person who is in front of me than 'virtual' ones. (I hope that makes sense and doesn't come across as rude or hurtful to anyone)

...

... as babies always do. So much loving to be done- in all forms from feeding to snuggling. To cleaning up their messes. And training them to clean up their own.

I'm so proud of you! Going back to school is tough work, but you hung in there and got 'er done! YAY You!!! Maybe someday you CAN go back. I'm pushing 50 and here I am. It IS doable. :)

I hope I can be a Grandma too someday soon. I hear they are not trying yet, but I will be ready to spoil the snot out of that baby when it does get here. :jumping1: Thanks for your vote of confidence. :) I do love school and although it is challenging, I am doing fairly well so far.

I wasn't a good student in high school, I was a social butterfly, but college was a different story, I worked hard and graduated with honors. Maybe one day I will go back, I love where I am working now and super happy, I think when I tire of it or need something more that's when I will go back to school, right now I'm loving my 9-5 no weekends work schedule. Gives me more time to plan Disney and see Leom.
Your FB posts are fun to read, I enjoy hearing about your school successes. I'm proud of you too!!!!

Hi Liesa Just checking in again !!I read ll Tim's replies to you!! Tim I have been absent too long too !!I never got into Face Book to be honest it just is not my style. I find such silly stupid stuff on there . I soo much prefer the Dis , we have fun and I have made so may wonderful friends on it !! I am glad I pushed myself to take the time again .:cloud9::sunny::chat:

It is different and I guess the economy has something to do with it. More Work less help and less DIS time.

How can people not miss dancing bananas?????????????

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

They are the best smilies ever invented! :goodvibes

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know I'm one of your pranksters who just doesn't have the time I used to for pranking. :guilty: I agree with the comments that have been posed by others, except in my case I can't blame it on Facebook -- I am the last holdout! I've been close to signing up a couple of times, but just never got around to it. And I'm surviving! But Instagram has taken some of my DIS-time. And X box. And kids using the computer at night for schoolwork. And I wholeheartedly agree with Magdalene about checking the DIS on your phone, it's terrible for trying to comment.

And I'm just not sure if I'll write a TR for my next trip. I'd like to document it, but I'm afraid I'll just keep saying the same things I've already said.

The times they are a'changin'!

L is for A Little of This, A Little of That
Ok Everyone,

A quick little update in order to reassure you that I am indeed alive- up to my eyeballs in reading Fetal Heartrate Monitor strips and learning the difference between ischemic and hemorrhagic CVAs- but alive. I dunno, the Presumptive vs. Possible vs. Positive signs of pregnacy may actually kill me. I'd say I'd let you know, but...

So, good news and bad news:

The Mickey Mail I was SO hoping would arrive has met some sort of horrible transit demise! :scared1:

From the tracking page:

"The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. The Postal Service has identified a problem with the processing of this item at 5:42 pm on March 2, 2015 in ORLANDO, FL 32824. The local facility has been alerted and is taking steps to correct the problem."

This does not sound good. Nor does it sound like my Mickey Mail is going to get here anytime soon. I'm glad my trip is a year and a half away; the USPS *might* get my package to me in time.

The good news is that I made a call today to the company MKBekka works at and was all but guaranteed a job for the summer after I pass my NCLEX and get my license. Which really shouldn't take much more than 2 weeks after my final. That's so awesome! More money coming in means less money I will have to borrow to get through school (and the faster I can pay for my little Extravaganza.) :bounce: (Oh wait, this seems to be the :banana::banana: Thread.)

I don't know if I'd mentioned this before, but in October I was elected by our class to be the Pinning Ceremony Chairperson, so will head up the Sub-Committees I put together for our End-of-the-Year Ceremony where we are ceremonially initiated into the ranks of Nurses. It is a very special time where corporately we express gratefulness to our support peoples, are given a charge to go out and be the best nurses we can be, etc... Kinda like graduation, but specific to nurses. I have found our Keynote Speaker, so the rest will be easy as I delegate out. YAY! Anyway, all that to say, the next term is going to FLY by with so much to do. In addition to just keeping up with the regular schoolwork, there is paperwork for licensing, background checks, fingerprinting, registering for my NCLEX (National Boards that must be passed to get licensed), and paperwork to walk in the college graduation. It's a lot. :)

Anyway, on a Disney note, my mom is planning to visit this thread soon, and it'll be fun to see if she will become a REAL DISser. She likes the internet, but is mainly a lurker. And I do mean that if there was a PhD in lurking, she would have one. Mom, if you ever read this, you will have a lot more fun if you post. Promise.

Ok, show of hands. Who has been to Narcoosees? How about Flying Fish? Anyone care to do a comparison or Food Review here for me??

Hope this week is amazing so far.

I will get to responses this weekend sometime. Tomorrow and Friday are my last Clinical days (1:00 PM- 10:30 PM), Sat and Monday studying all day with the Girls, and Sunday is Church and Family Day. We are a board gaming family to the max, and I have a new game coming on Friday!! :dancer:

Ciao for now

Heck, I went cross eyed just reading that.

 That doesn't sound good at all!

Congratulations! I'm sure that's a big relief to have that all taken care of so you don't have to worry about finding something.

Delegation is the best part of being in charge of something! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Hi mom. :wave2:

Sunday is Church and Family Day. We are a board gaming family to the max, and I have a new game coming on Friday!!
Oooh. Sounds fun. Are you gonna tell us what it is or are you saving that for a later update? :rolleyes1

Never been to Narcoosee's...my husband will NOT dress up on vacation (plus I'm not really a "fancy meal" kind of gal). We've not been to Flying Fish, but Nicki swears by the place...she and Todd love it and go almost every trip.

Just to answer your questions quickly on which board game is coming (honestly, I didn't think there would be much interest in that!): Betrayal at the House on the Hill (it's really not that "voodoo-y as this link makes it sound)...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betrayal_at_House_on_the_Hill

is due to arrive tomorrow. It a a fun game that is kind of like a combo of Clue, and a murder/mystery scenario game in which one player is the "bad guy" and the rest defend against this monster/bad guy/ situation/ curse by getting to different rooms and doing things there in order to defeat him or her. Sorry, it's really heard to explain, but not THAT complicated to play. We've been playing Settlers of Catan, 7 Wonders, Carcasonne, Quirkle and Dominion forever and it's time to add a new option to the Sunday mix.

Hi Liessa !! Have never been to either Narcosse's or Flying Fish , so can't help!!! What are your dates for October 2016 !! I will definately arrange that the P &P vacation is that time , so we can at least have a BIG MAMMOTH MEET somewhere !! Maybe we can take over an entire restaurant for a night :rotfl2: or a PARK:bounce: We did the MAY MAMOUTH MEET a few years ago and it was a lot of FUN!!!!

Just thought are Tee Shirts being considered, they should have something about Camel Dung on them :rotfl2: or BlANkINSTAN !!!:jumping1:

I have been both to Narcoosee's and to Flying Fish and I much prefer Flying Fish.

Katharina I went to Narcoossee's for her birthday meal in 2010: From Europe to Africa in America - A Sisters' Expedition: Narcoossee's Chapter

We also went to Flying Fish that trip: From Europe to Africa in America - A Sisters' Expedition: Flying Fish Chapter

My first Flying Fish review is this: 2009 Dining Review Flying Fish

Katharina and I returned in 2011 to FF and had a not totally wonderful experience due to the convention crowds at that time: A Birthday Trip without a Birthday: Flying Fish Review

And then Michael and I had a meal at Flying Fish in 2013 (yes, FF is my favourite singature restaurant in WDW): From the Sea to the World (2013 edition): Flying Fish

2013 it was as wonderful as ever!

So, what are the differences? First, I think I love the whimsical atmosphere of the Boardwalk better than the Grand Floridian. I also seem to prefer the menu. Since I am not a seafood lover, Narcoosee's seems to concentrate more on it. I like fish, but not crab, lobster etc. And it seems like there is more of the later at Narcoosee's. I find Narcoosee's itself a bit plain looking, the FF is full of fun things to look at but still elegant. And while our one visit at Narcoossee's our server was really not that magical, we only ever had wonderful service at FF.

Hope this helps!

Been only to FF but loved it!!!!! At least USPS put a message on the package so you are not left hanging but good thing you aren't going soon. I guess at this point I hope you get it at all.

Have a great last week of schoon before spring breack! I know you will rock that Final!! Are you still in the running for an A?

I love the picture of you with your Prince. :)

Thanks, Kathy! I love goofy stuff like that.

Yes she looks so politically correct !!:rotfl2:Liesa and correct go together like Rosie and innocent !!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:I am still struggling with the new multi quote :confused3Thought I had it but only yours came up:confused3

I think the multi-quote feature is nice, although I also have had issues with it not auto-filling them into the field. I think it'll just take time to learn it all again.

Rosie and innocent? hahaha! Good one!

Totally forgot to mention this, but I had to smile at this - not only because of the handsome couple, but because I think I remember reading about those sandals being purchased! Oh, the fun of PTR! :goodvibes

Yes, you probably do! It was quite an event if I remember correctly. I still have those shoes, by the way, and will happily wear them when it gets warm enough.

Congratulations - but what is a check-off? I have heard of check-ups, but not -offs...

A Skills check-off is where we perform a skill we've learned such as inserting an indwelling catheter, changing IV tubing, sterile dressing changes, etc... for an instructor. There is a rubric with cerain mandatory parts that we must remember or we don't pass. They are extremely stressful, and pass/fail. We only get 2 chances to pass. (In general the word check-off means something you do to kind of pass or perform something or do in order to get off of a list of pending work.) In our skills check-offs, we enter a room that is exactly like a hospital room with a medical mannikin in the bed. We perform the skill with all the of proper bedside manner and dialogue necessary to successfully complete the task. We can fail by forgetting simple things like washing our hands, or with more technical things like breaking sterile field.

How long is your spring break?

It is a week and a half long.

Some VERY cool things have happened this weekend, and I can't wait to share! But for now, if you think about it, my last regular exam is at 8:00 tomorrow morning. I have a meeting afterwards, but plan to spend my afternoon hanging around here when I'm done. :)

Update and all soon...

Liesa, good luck with your exam!

I'm looking forward to read about cool things.
