If I have a US shipping address would that be sufficient to open a DVA?

Sounds like a DVA would be a convenient way/place to "deposit" my Disney gift cards that I accumulate.

Would you guys mind filling me in? What is a DVA and what are its benefits?

I used my US postal address and made first deposit with credit card. Used foreign credit card, but if it wouldn't have taken it, I could've used my US credit card.

Paid DVC dues with it, too

Interesting... I've looked into DVA before but didn't try to set one up because the FAQ said you have to be a resident of the United States. However, I do have family in the US whose address I can use, so maybe I can set one up after all. Good idea/bad idea??
