We are arriving a few nights before our adventure begins.

Does Disney have reduced rates for the hotels before the first day of the adventure?

Nope. You can book pre-nights (and post-nights) at most of the hotels through ABD, but I've never seen them at reduced rates. In fact, most times, it is EXTREMELY more costly than if you booked it yourself. The rate does include transfers from the airport (if you book pre- or post-days on your own, then you're on your own for transportation) and breakfast. But you have to evaluate each time based on what ABD quotes for a pre-day as to whether it's worth it or not.

For Alaska, it was worth it since I was arriving after midnight, and didn't want to have to worry about getting myself to the hotel by myself. Greece was worth it, too. But in Scotland, the pre-days were like $800 (might have been more!) so I booked on my own down the road.

But, again, I've *never* seen reduced rates.

I'd suggest booking a cheaper hotel near where you want to be doing things (or near the airport, or one that has a free/cheap shuttle to the airport).

We are trying this for ABD Sothern CA. We are staying on points the night before, doing touristy stuff, then the next morning, taking the free shuttle back to the airport to meet ABD pickup...seemed the best option with very little extra hassle.

I booked one pre-night through ABD for the China trip I'm taking in September. It was actually less expensive than booking through the hotel's own website (though not inexpensive). I wanted the convenience of staying in the same room, the included transfers, and the hotel looked fantastic.

Well, that's good to know! I'm looking at taking the China trip next year...

I am looking into the China trip, but will want to arrive a couple days earlier. It looks like the Rosewood is the first hotel.

I thought transfers were only included if you arrive the day of the adventure?

If you book your pre-days through ABD, then the transfers are still included. If you book them on your own, then the transfers aren't included.

Under *some* circumstances, if you book your pre-days yourself, then show up at the airport on the day the adventure starts, you will be able to get transfers to the hotel on that day, also. That has to be pre-arranged with ABD.

We stayed 2 extra nights at the Ritz Carlton last year on the Central Europe ABD. I booked the rooms on my own through American Express Platinum program to take advantage of their amenities. ABD contacted me via e-mail a few weeks before our trip and told me they were going to include transfers from the Ritz Carlton to the airport. They also had boxed breakfast waiting for us at reception on our way out. Strangely they didn't include transfers from the airport to our hotel in Prague. Since it was a generous offer, I didn't question it!

We booked one night pre-trip in Prague last year and did it through ABD. It definitely would have been cheaper to do on our own but since we were only doing one night, the convenience of having transfers included was well worth it to me. It ended up that our flight was very delayed leaving San Francisco so instead of arriving in Prague at 2:00 pm we arrived at 11:00pm. Not having to worry about transfers in a city that I had never been to before was great. In fact our guides went above and beyond - I called the ABD desk to let them know about our late arrival and did not get warm fuzzies. They said since our arrival was going to be so late, if we did not see a guide to just take a cab and we would be reimbursed. I was able to send a message directly to our guide via social media and let her know about our delay when we were in Frankfurt. Jennae and Betti personally greeted us at 11:00pm and put us in cabs to make sure we did not have any inconvenience. A great way to start the trip.

I had the exact opposite experience. Paid 100% mark up for the pre-night. Arrived at around 11:00PM in Lima, which was our scheduled arrival date. Driver wasn't at the airport to pick us up. Tried to call the guides and got no answer. Ended up having to take a cab and ABD acted like they were doing us a big favor by reimbursing the cab fare. I will never pay ABD's inflated room rate again.

I just booked a NYC pre-night and for the room class it was slightly less than the best rate available online. I first thought it was more, but Disney has us in a nicer room than the lowest rate. Also, I believe the rate Disney quoted us was after taxes; not sure about what was on the hotel's web site.
