In this discussion I have not said replacement once. What I have said is cleanliness and upkeep of the interiors. Something that used to and should be done regularly. The interiors need work and some wall carpet and a new bench isn't going to fix everything, while its nice they need more than that. Pictures of mold and water damage are out there. Like I've said multiple times. Disney set the standard, Disney should be able to live up and exceed their standards yet they aren't. Who do we blame then?

You do remember what the system has been going through recently right? Disney had all their nice budget projections lined up, and then all of a sudden the crash happened. They were forced to spend millions on new trains, and updates to existing trains.

You want to know what happens when hardships happen? You tighten your belt like Walt Disney World Monorail System has. I'm sure all the staff are wanting more to be spent on athestics as well as technology (though from the sound of it that's all coming). They just can't spend the same money on two projects. This begs the question why didn't TDO step in and do more? Poor judgement.

I'd also like to remind you rteetz that it's not the 1990s anymore. Attendance is pretty close to 20,000,000. The months long down periods aren't there anymore.

They didn't buy new trains they rebuilt existing ones basically. I believe one train was out of service when the crash happened, they used parts from that train to fix the other one to get it back out. Then they rebuilt the trains that were involved and gave them a new color. Other than that there hasn't been any updates to the existing trains until now the new carpet. Also the crash was in 2009 it's now 2015 6 years later, an interior update definitely could've hapoened in that time. The only thing confirmed coming is the wall carpet that we have been seeing and new seats. What about a new paint job or or just a good interior cleaning to get rid of mold that has been showing up in some cases. Exactly how you said they were forced to spend that money, if there was no crash nothing would have changed. I also understand it's not the 1990s and attendance is higher. But Disney also has more employees than its did in 1990. I also know there aren't any down periods. But a lot of this simple work can be done overnight, or on days that all monorails aren't in service. For the past year they have been running lessened schedules for the monorails because of the automation upgrade. So they have been taking them out of service. Why not continue that and update them. I'm going to say this again. There once was a Disney standard that everyone lived to get to and Disney thrived on it and often exceeded that. Today they barely get there in many many areas. Disney can't live up to their own standard that's a problem.

But this is related to the monorails. Disney has lost a commitment all around. Like I said there was a time when this wouldn't be a problem anywhere in the resorts, monorails, parks etc. Today it is. If disney were really committed the monorails would be clean all the time, looking fresh as they used to, in reality they aren't.

I do agree that more should be done to keep the place cleaner. Though I have to say that some guests seem to be dirtier and nastier by the day. You just have to look at the mess many tour groups leave behind at the resorts to feel bad for the CM's.

I agree but with all the money they have from increased revenue and profits every year hire a couple more workers to clean it up if that's what it takes. Disney has always been busy but from opening in the 70s until let's say 2000 or so Disney parks were always spotless. Now I've never noticed a real problem I have seen a bit of wear in the monorails. Nothing that can't be easily done with some cleaning and maybe some paint etc.

As for a story with the tour groups I have a friend who on the last night of their vacation this January after running the marathon I might add had to switch rooms because the brazilians left the water on the floor above them and flooded their room. 11 pm at night switching rooms and leaving the next morning not fun. Glad I didn't have to go through that.

Really need someone to design and standardize an official sarcasm font.

As the official ambassador to the kingdom of sarcasia ...

I object! That wasn't sarcastic...
It was honest and not even brutally so...

My favorite part is "not Including park admission"...cause only a 150% up charge on the daily admission charge to buy Disney crap made by Chinese Disney factories...just isnt gonna cut it.

Because people will pay it...doesn't mean it isn't in complete bad taste...like the "villians serve cupcakes" exclusive ripoff engagements

Join the Galatic Gathering at Star Wars weekends! Its just more merchandise that you need a ticket to get into.

May 14th from 10 am to 3 pm at DHS

$250 to buy stuff

I posted this somewhere earlier, but it sounds like they're basically charging $250 for a magic band, a pin, and a popcorn bucket. Now, I've bought thousands of dollars worth of Star Wars merch over the years, but good lord...

I know. I've said multiple times they were"rebuilt." However for all intents and purposes for operations they were new trains. Why you might ask? Well these "new" monorails cannot be created by just simply attaching the parts together. It has to meticulously tested and calibrated in order to ensure safety and effectiveness.

"The train will be subject to the same extensive testing as any new vehicle we add to our transportation fleet," Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said."

That took thousands of man hours to accomplish.

The second, Monorail Peach was made not only of reused components but also brand new materials. It notably took two years to finally get her into service. She's much more a new train then Teal.

That's not right though. Since last year these trains have been in the midst of an automation system rollout. Teal first, and Silver is about to follow down that path. This is costing them millions to do.

Here's my outline of where budget went(if missed things just let me know):
2009-Budget was used testing the system and new train.
2010-Budget was used constructing new monorail components.
2011-should be a continuation of that project/testing. I'd hazard it was around this time after being handed the NTSB review they began looking for contractors to handle the update. Which leads us to today.

A multi year phase in of new automated technologies. They also put together enough money to update the seats and carpet. They look good too!

I can understand where you're coming from, but honestly they've been through a grueling couple years. They're only now getting it out of the worst. Give them time to finish these updates and enhancements. They're obviously turning their attention to the interiors. I don't think the staff have been lax. It's just you can only do so much when your budgets are small, and you're under time pressure to complete late updates.

Update: Corrected typo. I'd never heard of a "bidget" in my life.

Understand and agree with pretty much everything you said. The automation and exterior isn't my concern really at this point just the interiors is. And you said it exactly budgets are small. That's managements and high ups fault. They take more away from maintenance look at pirates, monorail interiors, bathrooms, hotel rooms, they have all seen a decrease in maintenance and upkeep that's because TDO likes to skip out on those things.

Lol! Interpretation of tone is everything. However, I will settle for a font for cynicism and another for unicorn.

I work in an office where you think people would know better..... whenever you go in the ladies room you see paper towels all over the floor. They can't bother to pick them up when they miss the trash. All in all the bathrooms are gross. People just don't treat their other surroundings as they would their own homes.

It is shameful and disgusting! And exactly the type of thing that trashy guests are doing at WDW.
